Black Grill vs OEM? (Pics Needed)

Deciding whether to buy a 05-08 Matt black Grill for my new facelift project or stay OEM.

Whats everyones thoughts and I need pics for both to help decide inc various mesh available! Calling all picture posting whores! ;)

1. Wheres the best place to buy these gansta looking black grills? :laugh:
2. Is there any issues with fitment with anything other than OEM?

TPS are brilliant so well worth trying. I managed to get mine complete with the front bumper off Ebay. I was lucky. Its a fab grill tbh.
 
i agree with sarah try tps they are top when i comes to parts i only use them i use audi when i have too as they are useless lol, get a optics grill tho you wont regret it looks 100% better than standard chrome
 
Oh and sorry for the ****** in the passenger seat.

Generally I dislike the black grille. It looks good on a few colours (mainly the S3 only colours - Imola, Sprint and Solar)

On black cars I think the chrome grille provides a much needed contrast.

But each to their own! I'm sure you've got enough info to source one. Worse comes to worst you can always wrap/spray a chrome one

Do all Single grills fit the A3 facelift?

For Example with an Audi A3 5 door fit a 3 door?
Will any age from 05- Present shape fit, Inc all S line grills? Or will I need an 05-08?

And will an A4 grill fit an A3? Sure it won't!

Yes all A3 8P2 grilles will fit (2005-2008). Doesnt matter if its 3door or 5door :) But none of the 8P3 new facelift grilles will fit your bumper (2008-present). And no the A4 grille wont fit its bigger than the A3s and a different shape. I've got an optic grille same as Sarahs. But i may buy a cheap chrome S3 grille if i can find one. Just for over winter something different to look at lol. Plus wonder what it would look like.

Does look mad! However not sure how it would look on the normal Sports facelift. You seem to get away with it on the 8P S3 bumper.

How does the OEM black grill come? Mat or gloss black, with or without Audi logo badge in centre?
Anyone know a price compared to the circa £40 grills on eBay?

Cheers, a member on her Mike got an s-line front bumper and optic standard grille looks good. I will see if i can get some photos of his up later. Yes its a OEM. Pm sent

Its a Gloss black finish. I bought mine brand new off ebay and got all the badges with it already. What £40 grilles are they? Post a link up. As said try FK grilles Lee on here got one on his A3 and looks quite good.

Theres also OEM look chrome - £38: 140472388795

Then on, there are a few £50upwards Inc these FK jobbies.

I called TPS and they quoted me OEM chrome: £123.91 and £42.13 for the needed number plate fixings, both +VAT. However I can get 20% discount with them. Still comes out a bit high!

Remember if you want the oem S3 grille you will have to glue it into place as its shorter than the a3 grilles.
Oem chrome one just looks like the standard grille. No a bad price mind. The badgeless ones doesnt look too bad.
Not a bad price with discount may be worth trying Stoke Audi aswell. But TPS do seem to be good fair play to them.
I cant remember Lee full user name but his car looks good with the FK grille.

i was like that till i saw it on the facelift and tbh it just does nothing other than add to the lines of the facelift for the s3
 
I just think it depends on whether you want the aggressive look or the classy look of the chrome grill...At the end of the day there will always be poeple who prefer one over the other..If you do decide to get a black optics then I guess when you fancy a change you could always change it back?. Good luck with the searching.
 
i prefered chrome on my dolphin grey a3 i do like the black on black on the facelift only.
 
Can I ask whats the difference between the A3 optics grill and the S3 optics grill, if any?

in the facelift the a3 doesnt have a location for the badge, in the prefacelifts i belive the grill is 10-15mm shorter in height
 
This is my Custom SLine grill. Ive had the centre spraed Gloss Black and kept the chrome outer ring, and had the fog surrounds sprayed Gloss Black to. Personally I think the chrome surround really sets it off :hubbahubba:
