RS3 on Pistonheads

It looks f...... s..t!!!

What a complete load of ********! Why oh why can't the make it 3 DOORS and MANUAL!?!

I think they have taken their eye off the ball.
People want the S and RS badge not be needed, the lines and stance of the range topper should show it all. Not be just another sline spec audi.
They should have launched with a 3door manual,
Needs to look meaner, Not a ****** sport back,

Big let down IMO, saying that I think they've lost the whole RS badge with the current models. The first RS6's and 4's had much more road presence with the wide arches.

Yer i agree, 3 door would look great but 5 door really?? they have gone and made it too sensible from the off set by the looks of it!
no doubts that thing will absolutely fly, IF i had 40k i dont know if i would buy it! second hand Rs4 instead would sort me out ;-)

The generations of 8P S3's have never managed to stand out from the rest of the A3 line in my opinion. It's a nice car and all that, but I always liked the 8L S3 more, because it stands out more from the rest of the 8L A3s.

The RS3 is going to be one hell of a fast car, but it does look very bland and not really in keeping with the rest of the RS models that came before it... shame that...

I think in some ways it harks back to the original RS philosophy, which was a practical but rapid estate car...

That said, i dont like it!

I like the front end but think the rear ends a let down i was hoping it would look like this http://www.inautonews.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/audi-rs3-2.jpg now thats alot more of an aggressive rear end. And i was hoping for a bit more wider arches and a bit more all out work. As EVERY ONE been waiting so long for this and seems a let done. I'm sure when i see one on the road i'll love it and want one. But the alloys are sh*t you get them on the new black edition A3/S3. So will just look like an black edition S3 sportsback lol.
I cant see them just doing an sportsback they need to do an 3door. There loads of guys on the 8P section who wanted one but now not interested as its sportsback and s-tronic. They at least need to do an manual and s-tronic as an option. Just makes sense...Ahh well at least its here lol

talk about an anticlimax. its like tearing the wrapping off your christmas present and finding a nice, knitted cardigan

didnt impress me much....looks like station-wagon rs4!
where are the arches? and why not manual...and 3 doors...and maybe a better more agressive rear bumper with quad exhaust???

aparently just BMW will keep a manual tranny in its sports car...thats sad!

Totally agree... 8L is a far better looking car, whichever way you look at it. There is something that just doesn't quite work about the design of the 8ps...

why release it as a sportback 5 door? looks awful!

strategical placed to "push" you to an RS5 if you want a 3 door...

off topic; the RS5 is the most angry thing I've ever heard OMG

It seems to have a pretty good spec with 335hp, launch control and Haldex bias control as standard. Meaning that at the flick of a switch you've got yourself a RWD drift hatch :p

Big shame they're not looking to make them in a 3 door.

I found this though... 2011 Audi RS3 @ Cars

If it looked like that, i'd be tempted, but at £41K....Hmmmm.

I'd be looking at a Prodrive 330 Impreza and save myself 8 grand.

5 door = lost credibility

Not sure why? I remember a time when RS' were all about avants and imo looked better. Sorry to jump in from the 8p family! haha. Alright I'm off now.

I would rather sit at a car boot stand then spend time in an impreza.

Proper let down ... end of... 40k for that you have to be having a giraffe... Audi needed to step up there game in the top end market to compete with the other big boys and have not done so.... big FAIL IMO:banghead:

40k, will probably be 45k with a few decent options. No twin exhausts, pretty much an 8P with a bumper change. Also the front tyres are wider than the rear, as they didn't bother to flare the arches.

Used RS4/6 anyone?

Nowhere near as nice as some early prototype pictures suggested it would be. Unfortunately the RS badged cars aren't designed for the hardcore Audi fans any more, they are now aimed at a market of people who want a "top of the range" model to do the school run and weekly shop!

@£40-45k, it's not a car I would buy in the first instance, it's too overpriced, RS or not, same as the TTRS costing £50k+ Best time to pick one of these up is when someone has took the hit on depreciation from new and buy one used, but that's just me.

im with you on this one Westle this is a car designed to capture that marcket and lets be honest about it, there are very few of us who drive an 8l who could afford the 8p let alone the rs3 , audi have simply gone where they think the money is at which is exactly as you described .

Golf R looks better.

Still, the 5 cylinder motor should make it sound like a quattro should!!

Not my cup of tea. It needs arches similar to the current RS6.

Think of the cars you could buy for £40k...

mate with an RS6 (and a couple of RS4s before that) instantly dismissed it as not being a proper RS due to the manufacturing process/location or something

wider front tyres than the rear!?
