hey guys
you will be ALL glad to know that the rs3 has finally arrived, take a look on www.germancarfans.com
Enjoy, i was expecting it to look more deadly though.

hmm, hardly much more exciting to look at than a std S3. There are mildly modified S3's on here look better!

i think it looks great. saving up already
The diamond quilted look on the seats is top, bit like Bentley's. The seat backs wouldn't stay gloss black like that for long with my kids!
The alloys are a bit unimaginative-just a rs5 copy. Just my tuppence worth!

Looks like I'll be staying with mine for awhile. Especially as mine has 5 bhp more.....

Who am I kidding I couldn't afford one anyway...lol

Got to agree I thought I would look better than that.

I wonder why AUDI are still soldiering on with the 8P model when VW have had the MK6 Golf out for 2 years now? That car is not schedule for release until 2012 too! In 2012 the 8P will be almost 10 years old, that's one of the longest lifecycles I can think of since the E36 3-series! Better for us current owners as the shape is still "current" (albiet facelifted from 2008). It still does look good though and not dated, especially in Sportback form as looks like the new A4/5/6 avants.

That front bumper will easily go on an S3 and it looks like you only need the rear valance too! The bumper is the same old 2006 on S line one!

Disapointed it doesnt have an oval exhaust either side!

Dissapointed big style as im not keen on sportbacks and i hate flappy paddle gearboxes. Might just tune my S3 up instead and buy the front end shown in the other post

I'm glad they've resisted because that's what every tom **** and harry manufacturer fit on their "sporty" cars now (exhausts either side). The traditional twin one-side exhaust suits the A3 perfectly - twin pipes either side on a smaller car can also make it look like a wheelbarrow IMO.

Yes but the Golf MK6 was only an intrim measure to make the Golf cheaper to manufacture. It still uses the same 'old' PQ35 platform as the MK5 and the A3. The 'new' A3 due out in 2012, probably at the Frankfurt Motor Show in Spetember 2012, will be the first to use the latest VAG MDQ platform for the A3/Golf sized cars. The MK7 Golf using the same platform will follow.

Ah IC! I thought the MK6 was a "new" car, it certainly looks bigger (especially width), but even so, to the consumer the platform underneath is largely irrelevant as the MK6 is a new car in every other respect (ie you can't bolt mk6 bits and bobs onto a mk5 to make it look the same), interior is all new etc. This 2012 A3 is for all intents and purposes the same car as the 2003 but after a series of face and tail lights.

The 2012 A3 will be a completely new car on the new platform. I agree that the 2010/11 A3 is still basically the same car as it was when the 8P version was launched in 2003 apart from the facelight of the lights etc. As you can see from my signature I'm on my 7th A3, the first one (an 8L) being purchased new in 1998 and my current one (an 8P3) in 2009 and so far no two of them have been the same.

Eh, anyone got the part number for that rear diffuser and maybe those quilted buckets??! :yum::laugh:

Sooooo.....who's going to be first to call Audi Parts Dept for the price on an RS3 grill....

Needless to say my latest version of ETKA (Update 831) does not mention the RS3 at all.

Perhaps the reason why Audi brought out the RS3 using the old model was to sell some parts to owners who want to make their 'old' A3 look like an RS3!!!

As for a 3-door - Am I right in thinking the RS4 was only ever avaialble as an Avant version. At least they have given the RS3 a decent gearbox rather than a old fashioned manual !!!

looked on the main audi site and the specs listed are basically the same as most A3's found here... no new technology really... apart from the lovely engine. bit disappointed really

Correct, the B5 RS4 was only produced as an Avant.

I think the sportback looks less dated than the 3 door so all good!

Dave where can i get ETKA software? And depending on what model RS4 B7 has Saloon and avant. And as Beanoir said B5 Avant only.

VERY VERY disappointed. Haldex to say the least, no flared arches, Mine are bigger than those. Total crock of pants, biggest Plus is the 5 pot. It looks like a fairy cake, all pansied out!

I think there will be alot of people moddign their cars to look like an RS3 instead of buying one... i mean yes its a mean 2.5TFSI but is it worth the money when it comes out? looks dated and pretty much like a standard S3... and not to mention the new look A3 will be out to be compared to.

ETKA update 832 does not have it either

The best way is to purchase a copy on eBay. If you do get a copy PM me and I will go through how to get the updates. There are copies on at the moment for around £4.00 and one says the latest version aut-updates.

Thanks Dave, will send you a pm once i've got it :)

Most of the downloaded versions I've come across are not as up to date as a purchased copy and would takes ages to get up to date. Also the last one I tried had all sorts of problems amd kept trying to access the VAG servers without any success. I've had the same experience using so called free copies sent when I've purchased a copy of Elsawin. All sorts of problems every time I tried to access the Etka program.

The 'purchased' copy I've use at the moment is easy to keep up to date and has none of the 'server access' problems of the other versions. Worth it to me for a few pounds.

speaking of which, the S3 exhausts were a fail as well, for the same reason
