OK my A3 should arrive within the next 10 days or so, hopefully leaving Ebden on tomorrows ferry to Sheerness.

My daughter was looking at the A1 , we test drove the 1.2 Base model. Very nice , and for a base model very well spec'ed . The 1.2 engine is actually pretty good . We will be putting in an order tomorrow, but think she want to stretch herself to a a 1.4 Sport.

What seems a real bargain is the service plan ,it is £250 for 5 years servicing including oils, filters ,etc! So for £740 extra she can have 5 years warranty and 5 years servicing all included... This was a big seller to me , though I would prefer she went for the 1.2 ... but then I am her dad.

let her the get 1.4 sport!
been hearing adverts for the A1 on the radio this morning... they did make it sound pretty good
will prob pop down to my local audi dealer just to have a go :D

N8 you never fail to crack me up! Although the A1 would look pretty sweet slammed on some nice rims

Would 19"s be too big? I have seen it in the flesh, forgot the kinda size of it :ninja:

OEM 18's are optional with 225/40 so no reason why 215/35/19's wouldnt fit a treat! Its smaller than you think I agree but if a mini can run 19's cant see why an A1 couldnt :)

Also saw one in an italian dealer, looked swell, but depends if price rockets with spec line.

Well there you go, 19" x 8.5 Splits, 215s, Air, go home, goodnight, and god bless

Is it wrong that i also thought of dropping it on it's **** with some 19's on it when i saw one today?

Everyones been talking about the RS3 launch what about an S1??? with the polo GTI engine!!! tried it in the seat bocanegra and its pretty rapid!!!!

Its already out mate, just they dropped the S1 name and just called it 1.4 TFSI S line. Its about 23k with all the good options

Audi deemed it unacceptable to call it the S1 due to the lack of quattro. However the A1 will sell very well and demand will see us with an S1 at a later date. Rumours are strong in Germany that it will use the all new 1.6 Turbo thats just been released in the Skoda Yeti (of all things!)

Sod that, drop a 3.2 V6 in it!

OK going to order one this morning. She is going to order the base 1.2 just to get a production slot (?)and the dealer says once we have done that we can change it as the lead time is till mar /Apl and knowing audi this will drop back to may at least. He was telling us Audi UK is struggling to slots get against other countries as the A1 was selling so well. (but then he is a sales man) He does not get a 1.4 for test driving till next week.
No discount of course on a new car , and the trade in offered is pretty low. They will hower firm the trade in at that price for delivery next year and this gives her time to sell her car (toyoya aygo) privately.

She will take out the 5 year packages. Her concern was that during 5 years she might want to trade up to an A3. I persuaded her that the A1 is a fine package for at least the next 3 years , and if she decides then to trade up the new A3 will have been out for a while.

What is interesting is he was telling us the A1 has been designed with easy convertable technology, so upgrading later is much easier. For example all models have a built in screen , which in the base just shows radio stations , but if you want to add sat nav later they just have to insert the right software...

Option prices...well it is an Audi ! You can spend a fortune. The Audi body kit option/wheels looks really cool. When we were in there she spotted an orange S3 and she told me that's her dream car (good girl) , I said orange is very essex , but then she is a essex girl..

The 1.4 sport is a nice package , I am just concerned she does not over stretch herself money wise. She has just graduated from Uni , and the only job she can find is a part time waitress.

We went and tried them yesterday as well and my wife ended up buying one. She bought the 1.4TFSI S-line in Phantom Black without the horrible contrasting roof pillars, delivery in 3 weeks. Seemed quite a nice little car, comfy, well made, rides well over bumps and the engine feels quite nippy for a 1.4. As said above there is no discount.

Delivery in 3 weeks Wow...They must have had a stock car..very lucky. Agree the door pillars are horrible . makes it look like a citroen.

My dealer says black 1.4 S lines are in stock at most dealers for delivery ASAP. Lucky thats the spec for you!

Its at the docks in Emden and its just a standard S line there wasn't anything in the options list that my wife wanted or needs, she wanted a white one but i chose the Phantom black as its the best Audi colour (in my non biased opinion)

SAw our first one in the UK on Saturday 13th doing about 110mph on M4 near Swindon OV60 *** and local dealer had several on show yesterday, Phantom Black S Lines look good, best colour IMHO too... but £24k WTF???? You would need 75% Residual value at 3 years to make it as cheap as a Polo!!

What powers it going to have now? I assumed it would use the same engine as the polo gti, bocanegra and fabia vrs. £23,000 that's alot of money for a small car no matter if it does have the Audi badge. My black edition cost me £21,000 after discount and I don't see them offering any on an A1.

Looking forward to a test drive in it though!!!

I wanna have a gander at 1!

I went to the local dealers they had about 8 in there last night. And personally i think the nicest colour in the photos is the red but up close it wasn't nice atall!!

OK deed done, will test drive the 1.4 next week and then we can change the order if need be. The dealership sold 8 yesterday..
We were in there 5 mins after it opened this morning and there was another young girl with her dad buying one !
As to price she is paying just over 14.5K with DIS and multi function steering wheel and 5 year warranty and 5 year servicing all included.

Congrats to your daughter. What colours she gone for? When's expected delivery? I would personally suggest the 1.4 just so she doesn't regret the choice. Money permitting of course!!!!

Spec the tech pack and Xenons which the dealer will tell you are must haves for risiduals and thats what it comes out at! (assuming the Ibiza/fab/Polo GTI engine)

To be honest, having an Audi these days without DRL/Xenons is completley missing the boat!

Tech pack is £1375 and xenons are (on S line)£765 or (on se and sport) £1095. You could spend a ridiculous amount on options though

i.4TFsi S-Line with some extra, Tech Pack, Parking, 18in wheels(£300) Bose, Open Sky... bit like our BE 2.0Tdi Quattro on order. We are paying 26k and a 1.4 Petrol A1 with similar spec was only about 2k less... + our order includes VAT at 20% (Audi paying it!)
