Hi guys,

Been a while since I have posted anything on here!

Basically, my car is lowered on Jamex Coilovers (as per signature). Since I put my A8 wheels on, with Kumho tyres, the road noise has been significantly reduced (previously had budgets).

Now the road noise is gone, there is a really annoying faint knocking sound. It was there before, but obviously more pronounced now. It is from both front and rear. Sounds like Top mounts, so have changed them all round. It is still there. Took the front drop links off earlier, and it was still there, so not them.

What I am wondering is, has anyone else suffered this when lowering their car?

I guess it's probably lowered about 40-50mm. I have access to ramps and a pit, so checked all the arms at the front, and all seem tight, so makes no sence!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I hope to have her on the market in the new year... fancy an S3... but, worried i won't get what i want with this there...

Cheers

I ran on B5 on Jamex's - I had a really annoying "clicking" noise when on/or near full lock with the steering.

For some reason, and not to be negative, the Jamex's seemed to show up every old and worn part of the car! I had cv joints breaking, driveshaft popping and so on on a regular basis!

Hope you find out what it is soon, best wishes, Chris

I would re vist the top mounts, you will probably find the spacers on the top to be too long for the non threaded section of the coilover, and or the washer to be too large for the stepped/machined bit.

Its been the same on the 3 sets of coilies i have used in the past, all slightly different spacing etc

Thanks Mark, I'm guessing you mean the spacer/sleeve that goes into the center of the top mount?

Just to confuse things, I noticed that driving home from work tonight (2 degrees C), The car was beautifully smooth, no knocking or anything! Does this make any sence to you? Baring in mind, I haven't touched it! I dont get it. lol. Also, the exhaust not occasionally changes, to a loud, very nice noise. There is no pattern to that either (other than in cold weather), but it doesnt half sound good when it does it.
