Hi all

I'm after some help please, I've recently come across the 'Supercharged' http://www.iamaudi.com/img/Audi-Supercharged-Badge-Parts-8.jpg badge and I'm thinking about the change from my current 'SLine' badge on the front wings to that shown in the link? Has anybody done this before, if so is it just plug and play, and if not does anyone know if it can be done?

Thanks in advance!

James

erm... why do you want to do this? your car isn't supercharged!

if you want to then you just need a hairdryer and the badges. hairdry the current badge until it comes off, clean off the glue and then affix the new ones. (they'll have glue on the back of them)

but i still don't know why you want to do this.

are they stuck on ? if so just heat them with a hairdryer and peel them off..

Just think it'll look better and be a little different from others. Each of us want some thing a little unique that stands out on their car, and in my opinion it's no different from people fitting an S3 grill to an SLine as well as fitting the rear diffuser of an S3. Don't people make these adjustments to improve the appearance of their car?

Can anyone confirm?

yes but most who fit S3 bodykits don't put S3 badges on. indeed each to their own, and the badges do look cool but i don't think that making your car out to be something it isn't is the greatest idea - especially when it isn't actually supercharged lol

Surely fitting an S3 rear bumper / diffuser is making it something it isn't?

the badges are stuck on mate just do wnat i said to do and you will be honkey dorey.

in a sense i do agree and i'd never personally fit an S3 kit to a non S3. but i think it's worse putting a badge on your car that tells everyone it's got a technology type that it doesn't have lol. most ppl aren't gonna know the difference between an S3 kit and an S-Line kit, but ppl will read "supercharged" and think it has something it doesn't.

do what you want mate, i've written above how you can do it so i'm not stopping you. as long as you're happy with your car that's all that matters.

Bass and sub are correct. I removed s-line ones on my car. The night before audi drive.
If you don't want to do it mate bring your car round mine. I used slightly warm water and an old card to peel it off

Cheers Ash, i'll give it a go myself and if all fails i'll PM you.

Appreciate it!

Personally I wouldn't put the badge on my car but it is a very nice badge will prob look decent! I want a Black edition badge. Nearest I've found is black series from AMG but not quite the same. Get some pics up once it's done

Will do once I get the badges and manage to get them fitted, hopefully facing no problems along the way!

Easy to do, as said gently heat up (dont leave the hairdryer in one place too long!) and carefully peel off. Also warm the car up when putting the new ones on, they will stick better.

On a side note, I did the S3 conversion, not to have an S3, I just wanted the single grill but couldnt get the S Line parts (mines an S Line) but could get the S3 plus for me its a more aggressive look which I like! I've still retained all S Line badges as thats what it is. Good luck to you, its only a badge and like most of us, it makes your own car unique to you. Hey who knows maybe one day yours will be supercharged!!!!

I wasn't having a dig and hope it didn't come across that way, the point that I was trying to make is that we make changes to our cars to improve the appearance. And yes people are right to complete the S3 conversion if they so chose, it looks better and that's the reason it's more expensive in the first place.

Hey i'm cool, I didnt take it as a dig, just thought i'd explain why I did what I did thats all. I did also say good luck to you and meant it in a good way. Post pics when done.

Seems like sub only one who is talking sense.

Fitting an S3 bumper to an A3 WILL make it look better.

Putting a 'supercharged' badge onto a normal A3 is just stupid. People are gonna laugh. Period.

Doing something unique is fine. But that doesn't mean it will be a good choice.

You drive a lovely car. People who see it I'm sure think it is beautiful. Don't let a £5 badge ruin a £20k+ car.

Does everyone agree with this?

I thought it would look good and be different but it seems that everyone else disagrees and thinks it'll look terrible? It's only a small badge to the front wing so I didn't think it would stand out that much?

Mate just do what you want, after all it is your car. And you will be driving it and not us. So really it doesnt matter what we think. I like the badge if im honest, there was a guy up Cardiff Audi a few weeks ago putting one on his S4

Thats because the S4 is supercharged and yes it does look good....on an S4...which is supercharged. If my memory corrects me, I think it was Rabbit who started it off on his ibis one.

As Benskin has stated..it is your car and you can do what you like..even paint it pink. But I was only giving my 2p worth. And as a fellow forum member, I think you would prefer it if we spoke the truth and not just to please.

Anyways I will just leave it as that now. Good luck with whatever you do.

Yeah i know the S4 supercharged. Correct Rabbit did change his badges on his S4.

IMO badging a car as something it's not is just wrong.

You wanna see the amount of "1.9TDI RS4s" on Irish roads... it's a joke.

Last week I even saw an AMG Mark IV Golf. Hilarious.

If someone were to produce a "turbocharged" version of the supercharged badge they could probably make themselves a nice little eBay business.

Doesn't seem like it's gone down to well but I still think it's worth a go just to see what it looks like, I may not even like them myself but you never know until you try. Once fitted I will post some pictures, you never know they may sway your overall thoughts (But I doubt it). Even if I do happen to dislike them myself, I can easily remove the badges full stop and have nothing.

Thanks for your comments and thoughts though guys, if only they were slightly more positive but like you say, each to their own.

James

Hairdrier and then seesaw behind with nylon fishing line, works perfect.

Just put an S on my front grill and it looks OK, double sided sticky tape, been through a couple days of heavy rain and its still there, and if someone does take a fancy to it it should do no damage when pulled off. Sline badge under TFSI on the back as well. Just to make it a tad different from standard.
