Help please!!! I've killed my car. Engine ecu u the swanny!

Sorry to hear about all the problems Scottie - I don't have much to offer as it seems the responses above as far more technical than I could ever offer. Does anyone know of a good vehicle electrician in your area that could come out and have a look? - AA\RAC Technician? - Bung him a couple of extra quid to have a proper look?

problems sorted already mate, scotties an engineer to trade so is pretty capable anyway

Can you post the answer to the problem, or ask Scottie to do so please ?

It will help others if they get in the same situation.

Thanks

it was a connection problem within the wiring of sorts, the piece was replaced and all is well now :)

Thanks mate - ( which piece? ) presumably a further update will be available so that others can understand what, and what not to do if they wish to do the same mod ?

it was a simple wiring fix relating to the back emf produced when his relays shutdown true facepalm moment

just frazzled a wire internally unsure of which diode wasnt fitted tbh if it was me id have overlooked it too

We know which diode wasn't fitted - the one on the relay !

What we don't know, and what we would all like to know, is precisely what internal communication wire was frazzled because of the relay !

I thought that all automotive relays had built-in diodes to combat back-emf problems but obviously this is not the case. The voltage on the coil of a 12 volt relay can spike up to 1000v for a milisecond when switching off hence the design requiring a reverse biased diode across the coil connections to short out this voltage.

We can all imagine what damage that spike can do, albeit for a milisecond, to a computer !

He wasn't using automotive parts for the link it was in the power wire he isn't fitting a conventional led setup either they're from Mercedes all will be revealed in time its not my place to its his car and work. I merely came along to tell you the issue is fixed which I found out when I was in contact giving him wiring diagrams

Yes mate all sorted now:)I now have some real marmite led dels!

I installed that device on exhaust to open and give me noise (diffuser), the positive wire I put on light command near stearing wheel, the problem started when the dashboard started tho crash and flash and the wind cleaner as moving alone
