Been looking seriously into supercharging my RS4, so far the potential company is MTM although the prices are a little scary to say the least. So was looking for any kits out there to see if there was a more "affordable" solution.

I have found one, check this out.....

Audi RS4 Supercharger Kit Electric RS4 Turbo Charger Bolt On

How much power do you think that will add? Think that will be far better than the MTM one....*

*PS. I am being sarcastic but was laughing so much I had to share it.

Oh definitely. In fact, why not make it yourself? Just get a few bits and pieces from Wickes and you'll easily get a 200hp increase :)

I reckon MTM just stick one of those in a MTM box and charge an extra 44,000 Euros ;)

I think I could arrange a group buy for some more discount. Not only will this fit RS4's could also potentially fit any Audi!... Spread the word!

Don't think there is much you can do with the B7 RS4 engines PetrolAholic. I know a guy who fitted nitros to his B7 but as I can remember from what he said, you could spend lots of poppy for very little gain, as the engine was at its limit around the 470/480 bhp mark. He is very knowledgeable in all RS models as his previous cars include a C5 RS6 which he traded for a B7 RS4, which he changed for a B5 RS4(more potential for tuning gains) then he bought my old C5 RS6(currently running 778PS)

I'm starting to realise that. The basics of it are. It's not TurboCharged so it isn't really tuneable. (that sentence being obviously very brief) but it's the general idea i'm picking up, i've had many cars over the years and pretty much most of them I could see 40-50bhp improvement spending very little money, this RS4 seems to be fairly difficult even to get a 20bhp gain, to which i'm not really bothered about that!

my SL55 went from 470 to near 550 just on a remap!

Thats why the guy I know changed from the B7 to the B5 Rs4, the tuning potential is far greater. If I had the cash I would have a B7 Avant sitting on my drive, and I wouldn't change a thing bar the DREADED DRC, to the Billi PSS9's. Everything else I would leave standard.

OK I would upgrade the wheels also for the C6 RS6 wheels.

a mate of mine tried something similar with an anglia back in the 80s using a 12v hairdryer, gave 180 bhp at the wheels ;-(

check out this months audi driver mag, real supercharger on s4 gives 500bhp

I think youve made up your mind already but just in case i beg of you please to not even consider that useless piece of electric sh*te posted above, you can get em off ebay for pence, nothing that cheap should even be in the same room as an RS4, MTM or chop it in for something Forced i reckon.

Yeh dont buy cheap sh*t for your rs4,you get what you pay for a bloke i used to work with had his b7 rs4 mtm supercharged and it was awesome and souned it too, he claims his rs4 was running 630bhp and that was it maxxed out, mate dont skimp if your gonna tune it cough up the dough or you could end up f*cking up your rs4. go on you tube and type in mtm rs4..

I don't believe anyone who has posted on this thread has the remotest intention of buying one of these. It's irony, isn't it?

(Isn't it?)

Ha ha ha OMG i have to admit i feel proper stupid now for thinking you might be serious, the worrying thing is, i have been on so many OC's were people have asked the question and been deadly serious, some have even gone on to buy em!

Good catch JDP lol.

Buy an RS6 instead......and then give me your rs4

Can't believe anyone would ever buy one of those things, and shame on you Triple O.G for not getting the irony lol :p

On a serious note....I wonder if anyone has put a v10 turbo from the 6 into the 4

Lol, to clarify to ANYONE unsure. I WAS BEING COMPLETELY SARCASTIC WHEN SUGGESTED BUYING FOR MY CAR, just stumbled upon it when I googled "RS4 Supercharger"

.... V10 into RS4...... hmmmmmm......

I don't think many will have the kit on a car they use as their daily run around, given the prices the kits are few and far between as it is, however as it is a charger and not a turbo kit I would expect it to be perfectly happy with a daily drive, as it will deliver more power throughout the rev range, not just in one area like a turbo, and I wouldn't expect mapping to be overley agressive, as the pistons are a very high compression ratio, which as far as I am aware aren't replaced when either kit is fitted, so levels of boost much above atomospheric won't be possible and the car should behave itself quite nicely under all conditions, but it'd be good to hunt someone down with a kit and ask them more about how it is to drive, or ask APR or MTM, particularly MTM, who may well have a test car with it fitted, should you wish to take a trip to germany lol.

Thanks for the info, yeah it does seem they don't change pistons or for that matter any compression ratio of the engine so excessive boost is going to be a problem. I was going to be taking a trip over to MTM to discuss anyway after the bad spell of weather we are having is clear. As you say they may have a demo car that I could thrash/test drive to see what it's like.

I was originally just going to go down the route of Exhaust, decat and remap but seeing the little power improvement achieved from that i'm wanting to go a bit further.

Although on a sidenote it may just be easier to buy an RS6 lol

I think you'll be rather chuffed if you get it charged, an increase of what 120bhp is nothing to be sniffed at, and will make such a massive difference to the car, and should be reliable for a long while, espescially if they use atmospheric levels of boost, naturally aspirated engines run under vacuum, so even atmospheric boost levels have a dramatic effect on power, and don't add much in the way of aditionall stresses, as the engines are designed to run under a variety of conditions.

It's good that you're already planning a trip to MTM, it will be good to meet them in person to discuss any issues you may have and I'm fairly sure they have a demo car that they'll let you drive, if you're serious about buying the kit from them.

Which RS6 would you go for if you did go down that route?

type MTM RS4 into youtube, they have a demo car. OH YEAH!!!

Lol, now I wonder if there is someone with an APR stage 3 2.0TFSI knocking around......want that kit :p
