Special features of the current Audi vee engine family are the 90-degree included angle between the
cylinder banks and the spacing of 90 mm between the cylinders.
The first member of the family was the 3.2-litre V6 FSI engine. The 4.2-litre V8 FSI engine is also a member
of this family.
It is available in two versions - a comfort-oriented basic version (used for the first time in the Audi Q7) and
a sporty high-revving version for the new RS4. A V10 engine with 5.2 litres of displacement will also be
available

Will we be tested on this later?

Speaking with a friend of mine down the pub last night who works for Mclaren F1, i mentioned the idea of using the TTRS engine next season as you can tune it with no loss of engine life. He is very enthusiastic and thinks 700bhp should do it. Ron Dennis likes the idea of free roadside assistance at the track and the 3 year warranty. Currently they get about 300 miles from an engine so 200,000 could be quite a cost saving. Jensen likes the idea of Alu roof rails but Lewis thinks Boxter brakes might be needed to slow the beast down.. All we have to do now is keep a lid on this or Ferrari will be stealing the plans and scrapping there multi million £ investment in the new V12 and simply remapping the Fiat 500........mums the word guys..:salute:

Doesn't comply with FIA rules, come on EVERYONE knows that ;)

Laugh?.....I nearly died!

Anyway...Ron could easily get a couple of TTRS engines welded together to make a V10,then cut a couple of cylinders off to get a V8 etc etc

Remapping the Fiat 500 would save a few bucks for Ferrari though, and might help Alonso get past the safety car...

Well I've ignored Paddy's concerns on tuning and had Revo Stage 1 stuck on my car, and ****** hell has it brought it to life. It was no slouch in stock, but it is keener in all gears, hell even starting from 45mph in 6th has a real shove in the back!
3rd gear is mighty now, you can be out and passed someone doing 50mph on a b-road in no time, making it pretty safe (reduced time exposed to danger). It's a right weapon. I was filling up with fuel last night and an R8 (v8) was already there filling up.... it got me thinking....
TT-RS : 413bhp : 403lb/ft : 1450kg : 285bhp/tonne : 277lbft/tonne
R8 v8 : 414bhp : 317 lb/ft : 1558kg : 265bhp/tonne : 203lbft/tonne

Yeah, I could have him ;)

Anyway, my point here is, IF the RS3 does come out and this engine is in a hot hatch.... nothing will touch it after a few choice mod's :D

Apparently Muneeb has seen off an R8 with his Revo stage 2+ S3, so yours should have no problem. I want one now! Does anyone do an intake and downpipe uprade for it yet?

Intake no.
Down pipe, yes...

Race
Customers looking to attack the race track with an exhaust that achieves uncompromised gas flow, a useful weight-saving, peak operating efficiency and, an Audi Quattro-esque 5-cylinder burble that simply emanates “Power”, nothing fits the bill better than the Milltek Race system.

The race system employs a massive 100mm / 4” free-flow turbo elbow (see photo, right), feeding immediately into a high-flow 100 CPSI (cells per square inch) catalyst, via uninterrupted 76mm / 3” pipework, to a connecting pipe and finally, the rear silencer. The silencer itself has the same external appearance as the Milltek Road system but features trick race internals.

Milltek understands that regardless of whether you intend to use your car mainly on the race track or mainly on the road, there are times when you want flexibility to do either. That’s why both the Road and Race systems are fitted with an Active Exhaust Valve which operates in conjunction with the TT RS’s Sport button to keep unwanted noise when cruising to a minimum.

Will be on my car in the next few weeks ;)

4 '' downpipe........working in conjunction with active with active exhaust flap..get that **** bro. Then your car will sound just like the uber cool Sport Quattro !

i went to goodwood festival of speed over weekend... i was at audi talking to the guy about the rs5 (very nice car i must say) especially with the chunky carbon ceramics

anyway afeter around 15 mins of chatting and a bit of rappore building i dropped the question.... and the news is its coming 100000% he couldnt contain his smile... we then went on to have a fairly detailed convo why it would be happening and so forth....

for those of you that said these things you are right....

1. a38p platform is coming to an end and they always bring rs models out end of line..
2. a3 uses something the same as the golf mk5 and in america they use the ttrs lump in golfs, bar the turbo... so they know it will fit...
3. there will be a 3 door (sportback only used for muleing (apparently cause its more disguised??) even though i said it was a bit obvious having a mule at nordschiffe with ans rs3 badge!! and a new obvious bumper,19 wheels and BBK!!!
4. its easy money for audi... platform there engine there brakes there.... apparently the reason they are doing it to is because they felt they f***ked up a bit with the s3.. in terms of it being too much like an a3.. which i couldnt agree with more.. (my gf cant really tell the diff between BE/S3...)
5. the RS5 has just gone into full production.. he said it will be in production for a maximum of a year then they will release the RS3..

i cant believe this guy would say all this if it werent true...

saving starts... two years time 2nd hand RS3 for me pleaseeee!!!

just dropped my car to audi chingford for servicing... i mentioned it to one of the sales guys n he was like "nah i dont know nothing it cant be true bla bla bla, im goin to germany next week to see the a1 and they would have told me" i replied with ive already seen the A1 (before him) and the RS5 before him... he soon went quiet...

Mate that's fantastic news, really need to save up now. I seriously can't wait, first thing I will do is get the remap and exhaust 440 bhp in a hatchback lol :jump:

ditto.... makes you wonder whether its worth taking your car any further or just sav from now....

especially when next up for me is stage 2 and seeing muneeb loose his clutch already it becomes costly... extra 1k for clutch + stage 2+ = circa £3000

Mine's slipping too since GIAC, and as its only a 2.0T sportback worth a lot less obv...thats why im not gonna shell out for a Sachs , going for one from CG motorsports in Leeds- an custom performance organic one for under £300 , they do a paddle as well but dont fancy an on/off switch for the clutch.

Muneeb be gentle on her till our trip up North! Im jus driving in stock mode till then.

Ive been lucky recently, ive driven an R8 which was awesome, ive had a TTS which was good but not as good as the TTRS i got as the courtesy car, it very nearly made me buy one but i would want the sport button depressed all the time and recently when i picked up my S3 the garage gave me the keys to test a new RS5 which was awesome but im not keen on autos. I have been asking my garage about a RS3 for the past 4 months and finally ive been told its out in about 11 months now, so i better get saving as ive told my dealer i want one as long as its a 3 door with a manual gearbox as per TTRS. Ive mentioned this on other posts before and fingers crossed i might get one as they are only making 2900 according to rumours.

I do not think they will only make so many, bit like the BMW M1 limited that was quashed recently.

I think it will be launched around march, but not be available to pick up till late 2011, though that is not confirmed.

Which Audi Dealer do you go to, the best courtesy car I've ever had from my dealer was a 1.9 TDI A3 when I handed my S3 in lol

Haz1, i go to Lakeland audi in cumbria, the "worst car" they gave me was a 2.0TDI A4 estate with all the toys. But considering the amount of money ive put they way in the past years i should hope the look after me unless i might go else where or another brand and as they already know i want a RS3 they are maybe trying to keep me sweet lol

Looks like its wrapped in black foil, and white/silver underneath.... Hmm.. Why's that?
