Another hybrid conversion thread....

Silly question maybe Bill, but would my AmD stage1 mapped APY benefit from this, or is this something I should consider if I plan to go Hybrid turbo at a later date?

Just a quick one....

The dyno says 331.7 bhp.

Liquid gauge says:

78.jpg

I'd say that's pretty damn close....

Wow, That is pretty dam close, i must get me one of these gauges, i wasn't aware they could tell BHP

I use my PDA and vagcheck for logging, its not as nice as the Liquid guage but it does the trick, its a pity we can't work out the torque from block 120 once we are remapped. ;-(

Liquid does torque as well, you can pick what the calculation is based on. You have a choice of it working it out from air flow, or from block 120.

If liquid gauge can do it so can vagcom, this is something i miss logging, i guess if i knew which calculation to base it off it would help, LOL

Have you ordered your WMI to get to 350bhp yet?

I would expect gains on remapped k04 car yes.. I cant say what tho not having done the test (yet)

Bill did you want S3 Dave and I to add our names to the list on the Seat Cupra thread?

Will do, Dave would you like me to add your name at the same time I do mine?

Hi Bill

Please note my interest for 1st production batch.

Many thanks
Emerson

OK, so we're getting to the point where it's looking to be all done. With the exception of WMI which, at the moment, I simply can't afford....lol.

Anyway, a few words on this TIP that's been fitted, and my experience thereof.

Fitment. It fits well, and to be fair, has moved the air filter further away from the engine than it was before which can only be a good thing...

Performance. The outputs speak for themselves, and to be fair, it's even better out on the road.

The TIP has actually allowed more boost to be run for less timing pull. Under load, the timing is and always has been fine, but under normal driving conditions, such as motorway, the CFs were creeping up into the 6s so I knocked the timing back .75 degrees to drop that down.

Economy under normal day to day driving has gone up due to the slower spool time of the turbo. It's not permanently trying to boost it's little **** off. Again, this is deffo a good thing.

IATs are down on average. Under road use, I would normally see around 10 degrees above ambient temp. That has dropped to about 5-6 degrees on average.

As can be seen from the log files above, I am getting consistently 264/265 g/s air flow out on the road, I can't believe the difference in the driveability since TIP fitting. (mostly the torque).

All in all, a great bit of kit IMO, so thanks for letting me be a guinea pig Bill.... :)

I'm a bit sad to see this project draw to a close :(

ok.. I am not an advertiser on here, and dont want to take the michael.. there is a thread on SCN which is collating names for the 3inch TIP.
Current status is I am making a version 2, and waiting on the 1st batch of the turbo reducers from the CNC shop.. ~ 1 week away or so hopefully.
then I can check out version 2, and press the GO button on the fab'd portion.
regards
bill

but now you get to enjoy it and relax!

I am far too hyperactive to ever be able to relax.

Adding to my hyperactivity, I also work in IT so drink coffee all day long.

Come the end of the day I am wired on coffee and nicotine lol.

I have to do something to stop me bouncing off the walls.

Grrrrrr.

Everything has been fine since installation, pottering about well enough and have now done several thousand miles in the motor....

And the exhaust manifold has now started blowing.... ******.

Not sure what is is, or from where as haven't has the opportunity to have a good look yet.... I'm just hoping the damn thing hasn't cracked already... :(

Hoping it's my fugly gasket. If it is, I shall be replacing it with an OEM one for a bit.

****** car :(

Not good mate! Let me know as soon as you know as I was going to order one of these in a couple of weeks when they have them back in stock!

As you were running 96% duty cycle do you think we could get away with yet bigger injectors? Or would the next step be to upgrade the fuel system to 4 bar?

Cheers,
Dan

Probably move up to 4 bar, BUT it would require an extra inline pump really, the OEM pump isn't man enough to run 4 bar long term.

I'm hoping it's nothing too bad - it may even be the downpipe yet, but I'm not so sure....

you were getting bored not having touched it for a couple of weeks welly.. It knew you know..
cars eh!

never catch on

3 inch TIP turbo adaptors will be completed and with me tonight.
Just need to confirm fitment onto a std airbox car which handily Danes S3 is here for that, and I can get the welded section confirmed and sent for manufacturing in first batch

Thats good timing!! lol. Handy....

:eyebrows:

ps is the manifold cracked?
