So as people may know i do all my spraying myself. And im toying with the idea of spraying my wing mirror caps to replicate the s3 alloy look mirrors. Ive been playing around with some paint and so far this is the best i can get....... personally i dont think its horrendous but could be closer and a little more matt. i tested the paint on my xbox 360 chatpad because of the curve on the edge.

btw i dont want to buy originals because i live in luton. enough said

Completely understand mate. cant wait to get out of the place. Born here lived here dont want to die here when im older... lol Always had stuff nicked of my previous cars. Vxrs and GSi vauxhalls get stolen to order everyday here.

i sprayed my mirrors too before they went black they were alloy/s3 look alikes i think the colour you have used there is spot on

Lol didnt even know Luton was that bad! I'll be staying far away from there lol

wait so you wont put real mirrors on because they attract thieves but you intend on refitting and respraying covers, which look like s3 ones and will get teh same end result :S

Im only 20 miles up the road and even i look for a diversion around it lol.

Infact my mate had his Corsa SRI stolen in Luton last year.

Damn had no idea Luton was like that, had a mate stay there for a year with a TT Quattro 1.8T 225 BHP, that didn't get nicked!

Suppose it like most places there are good and bad parts. Parts you wouldnt think about leaving a car and places that are ok

i think the point is that if regular covers get nicked they're of little value to the criminal so he loses out, and Russo can just respray more at a fraction of the cost of actual S3 covers.

personally i wouldn't bother at all tho. i don't really like the silver covers on black cars, unless they're actually S3s and have the bling grille as well

prepare to have your car stolen then unfortunately, i worr about my s3 every day and its in a locked yard

Russo...keep us informed of the paint you end up using...... i was going to get some done recently via a bodyshop using the RS4 matt paint code, obviously not the cheapest way of doing things, especially as its for my misus older A3 which i am reluctant to spend a fortune on

I don't understand the obsession with the silver S3 doors mirrors, they look odd on most colour S3s to me (especially the bright flat colours like red and orange) and IMO in general automotive world is more akin to an "SE" model then a top of the range sport model where I would expect them to be colour-coded. Just my opinion but I've always though they are an odd design choice.

So you didnt read the part where i am convering to an s3..... i can make them tie in nicely with the car. I can spray my whole car in chrome alloy if i want too. I will find a way. All top of the range cars have alloy mirrors now. Must be doing something right. Its the little things that look best. If you payed top dollar for an audi you would moan if you didnt have them.
