hello. i have a patch of corrosion on the small plate above the number plate. the one that covers the number plate lights, it would probably be easer and cheaper to replace this plate rather than re-spray it. how is it removed, do i have to remove the trim on the inside of the boot lid or can it be accessed form the outside. any tips before i start out would be much appreciated. thanks

yes, remove the screw in the handle of the plastic trim on the inside of the car/boot lid, then pull the plastic trim off, its secured by some strong metal clips...so pulling is your only option, you will need to be forceful

Once off you need to disconnect the 4 small plugs going into the number plate lights and boot releases, theres two 10mm nuts to undo....then two small clips to push in at the outer endge of the trim (from the inside), it will then release

just dont do what i did and close the boot whilst its off :)

the primed ones cost around £70 off Stoke Audi (off here) - i have my old one lying about that im going to advertising soon if you feel you want to sit there rubbing it down instead of shelling out

I had this on mine. Audi quoted £246ish quid to supply a new part and fix it.

I said f off and they came down to £82 to just respray it. Been fine (touch wood) ever since!
