Hi All,

I have a bit of a dilemma. Im shortly gonna get a TIP, downpipe, decat and milltek cat back. My car is currently running an r-tech stage 1.

Firstly will i get much more power out of my current map with the mods above?

Also is it possible to stage 2 the agu with my poof of a turbo and see any real increase?

im just debating whether its worth it at the moment. I may get a ko3s next year but im in no rush for that at the moment.

My car was remapped to 185bhp with a couple of leaks. which should be fixed now.

p.s a lil sub question my boost gauge is tapped into the top hose of my 007 rather than the fuel pressure regulator (i think its called) would this cost me any boost or performance? R-tech said to move it.

Cheers for any help or advice

Dave :icon_thumright:

DV piping is fine where it is IMO.

Only Custom Code AFAIK do a Stage 2 for the AGU cable throttle. R Tech may do one though.

K03S FTW matey...

The standard K03 should be good for just over 200hp...

External mods like you describe will help you get there, but you will still reach the turbos limit to flow any more air.

If your happy with 200hp, then fine, but if your wanting more, then you really need to change the turbo.

ok so pretty much i should just get those mods on which should see 200bhp JUST then later get my k03s and stage 2 map it then?

cheers fellas

ahh so in other words those mods would do nothing to improve my power until the k03s?

It will improve power, but not in the way that you're thinking.

Those mods will help you to prolong the power you already have. All of these mods won't do a great deal to peak performance, however will help it make the peak power more reliably.

Also, you will need all those things for the K03S anyway.

yeh guess so and at least it will sound nicer and feel smoother to drive and like u say id be pretty much ready for k03s then :)

cheeeeeeeeers

The K03 fitted to the B5 A4 is smaller than the A3 one, and A4's will usually map to around 195hp...

Seriously dude, you're struggling to break 200 bhp from a K03-011 equipped AGU. It can be done, but again is subject to the usual dyno lottery rules.

You wont get 200bhp from a KO3 with any amount of other mods, they run out of puff!.

Tops would be 190ish. To be fair its not all about numbers, its how the car drives. When mine was mapped the chap said the KO3 wont produce as much power as a KO3S but it'll be nice and smooth...which is what I wanted and got.

Hi Dave,

Just for your info... If and when you decide to go for K03s we can supply you with a brand new genuine turbo unit. We should be one of the best prices around at £550 + vat and we're right on your door step - Bletchley Milton Keynes!

K03s Turbo...

^^ I'd agree that is a very good price indeed. I didn't pay much less for a second hand unit when I bought one, with 50K on it.

You'll need a lot more than just the turbo to fot a KO4 mate :)

I'm tempted by a KO3S now too though!.

yeh seems cool straight swap n then just a remap. u have all the suported mods anyway. i need to get my tip and exhaust

Just need a front mount and a 3" downpipe and it'd be ready for it.

Sadly cash needs to be spent on other things though!.

The K03s and the K04-1 are virtually the same so I would recommend the K03s. You might see an extra 5bhp with the K04-1 and it will hold boost for longer at the top end but it's not a great deal better than the K03s.

Going K04-23 (as on S3, TT etc) is a lot of work. Exhaust manifold, oil & water lines, downpipe, charge pipe, injectors etc will all need to be changed.

The K03s & K04-1 turbos are direct replacement and fit the OE manifold. Fitting is quite straight forward for any competent workshop. We would quote 4 hrs labour and would also recommend an oil and filter change at the same time.

Fitting on Quattro’s are little more involved and would be a bit more.

We are also official distributers for Forge Motorsport & Milltek so any bits you may need you can get through us.

The K04-001 is a glorified K03S. Not worth having IMO. The K04-02X series are the ones fitted to tthe LCRs and S3s.

Thats a bit job to swap over from K03-011 to K04-02X. Everything needs to be changed basically, fuel pump, injectors, oil lines, manifold, downpipe, TIP. Trust me - a ball ache.

Go for the K03S - A DIY fitment IMO (but I would say that) and enjoy the ~220 bhp you'll see from it. Good luck putting any more than that on the road in a FWD A3 anyway...

forgot about this post!

ive ordered my TIP through s3bam (cheers m8) and getting my cat back on the 4th. gonna get my downpipe early new year and turbo probs wont be til the summer roughly. maybe longer depending if im jobless or not (currently risk of redundency...again ******* I.T!) but yeh will see how it goes!

cheers chaps
