As titled, im looking to fit cruise control.

From the sounds of things it sounds like I need to fit the stalk and loom down through the bulkhead and crack open the ecu to connect. Sounds like a complete pain. The kits are £80 plus postage from teeside audi on ebay which seems reasonable

anybody done it themselves or had it fitted professionally, if so, how much?

Revent posts on here arn't very descriptive and prices are no longer revelant.

cheers, Jim

not sure if it helps but i get my new audi next week. It didnt have cruise control fitted and the Audi dealer is adding it for me. It is about £300 fitted and guaranteed by them :)

erm, or you can get it retrofitted for 170 (including parts) - I know what I'd rather do, as dealing with Audi warranty people is a pain at best of times.

guarenteed to rip you off.

Im in a dark hole in devon so hard to reach these places you say...

Im prepared to pay £100 for fitting, but no more.

Actually pretty easy to do tbh but you will need VAGCOM to activate cruise control and the balls to ****** with the ECU plugs ;P

Think it took me about 3 hours being casual to do... lots to remove as usual of course and the blue power wire that the instructions say you have to fit into the fuse box is easier just to solder as its only a power point..

Fiddly but straight forward... there should be a link to the instructions on the ebay listing as I got mine from them too

yeah iv got vagcom.

Removing and refitting the steering wheel isnt no hassle then?

A casual 3 hours isnt too bad.

IIRC it was at the end of November last year when my car was in for servicing (or was it the year before?? I have the receipt somewhere). They must have had a deal on as it's now advertised at £175 all in. Might be worth contacting them and seeing what they can do though.

I would get and audi stalk rather than retrofit, I have one intsalled by the previous owner, which is a bit crap to say the least. it only work when it wants to. on top of this it's wired through the esp so esp does not come on any more. :(

The retro fit kit from Teeside VW is genuine VAG kit and for drive by wire throttle bodied engines rather than cable TB's of earlier VAGS... don't confuse this kit with an aftermarket cruise kit...

Iv ordered the kit, but they are away until the 25th so will have to wait. Quite looking forward to fitting it now

I fitted it myself, was a little daunting taking the ECU plug apart was half expecting the car to either never work again or accelerate off at warp speed as soon as I put my foot down! but all went well lol. I didnt have vagcom either so took it to audi & they activated it for free!

Well I have in my posession all the ingredients to instal the washer level sensor, DIS and Cruise to my B7, so bright and early tomorrow, its off over to my garage to fling open my toolbox :eyebrows:

Watch this space :sm4:

haha i started fitting it today. Certainly isnt a job for the faint hearted! went at it a couple hours and now just need to take apart plug and hook in power, then put it all back together.

tuffty do you mean connect onto one of the terminals o the relay box?

found a aftermarket feed coming off there with a inline fuse, not sure what it would be feeding though as everything is standard

Had mine done at awsome £117 all in fitted in 40 mins.

Well I got mine all done. Took me about three and a half hours altogether which included fitting and wiring in the washer bottle level sensor. All coded up without hassle (well apart from the slight DIS hiccup which I got sorted) and working like a dream. Fantastic to have CC back, been missing it since I got rid of the VXR

Any advice on bits you found difficult? Im looking to attempt mine soon.

To be totally honest, THE worst bit for me was wiring the flamin' washer bottle sensor in

The fitting of the stalk(s) themselves is extremely straightforward. It helps that I am in the trade I suppose, but even for someone with limited car knowledge, it can be done very easily if you just take your time. As for the coding bit, that may be a bit daunting to someone unfamilar with playing with diagnostic equipment etc, but if you do a full scan and print it before you start, you have all the modules existing coding should anything go horribly wrong, then at least you can get back to your start point. I will give you as much help as I can when you come to do it, just drop me a PM :sm4:

Haha cruise control alone took me 5 hours in total, albeit in the dark. Soon found out what tuffty ment when I got to connecting the power feed. Much easier to snip the wire and solder it than try get that pesky pin out. Definately wouldn't recommend doing anything like that at night.

Also after refitting the dash I noticed I hadn't clipped the diagnostics port back in... Doh!

Hmmm... Very tempted. Have asked the stealer for a quote when mine goes in to have the HID levelling checked next wk

Does anyone know the part numbers for the stalk and loom required for a 1.6 AVU engine? Ideally want to pickup the parts from a local dealer if it's not too much more than off eBay.
