RS6 wheel colour.

I've decided to refurb my RS6's while they're off for the winter, and am going to do them a darker colour, like the below pic

(Courtesy of a forum member, I can't remember who but he does post from time to time!)

I had a browse around Halfords today, but it's hard to relate the colour on the can to how they would look on the car, but I'm thinking maybe to do them the same colour as the RS6 plus

Any thoughts or advice from anyone?
 
Thanks Scott - sorry I should have clarified, I've refurbed them before so I'm quite happy with 'how' to do it - but I'm after advice on a colour to use, or how best to choose one.
 
i agree, look lovely on the grey one.

normally i would say they look out of place on the a4 but in this case they are smart!
 
Would it be utterly silly to spray a couple of discs of card or plastic or something and rest them up against your wheels and then stand back just to get an idea of how the colour contrasts with the car?

hey, why not do them burnt orange to be different? hehe

The car is Dolphin Grey, the same as the RS6 I posted :thumbsup:

Thats about my level of Photoshop!

(ignores orange wheel suggestion....)
 
find a colour car you like, then buy that paint. I wanted a deep red for my wheels, I looked around a lot and saw a nice bmw finish, found out it was Cordoba red and what colour code it was

asked the garage to paint it that colour code.

The problem with photoshop is you'll not be able to replicate the exact shade you're considering and then what you're looking at may not be what you'll end up with because of your display settings.
I really like the dark grey as per your original photo with the dolphin grey car
 
have you gone through the B6 fav pics sticky to see if you can find the owner of that car to ask him?
 
No I haven't in fairness, but as it's an RS6 I'm not sure he would have posted. He's responded to one of my threads at sometime, so I'll have to start searching I think!
 
it's either that or you have to borrow one of those gizmos that you hold to a surface and it reads the colour... and hang about at cruises, taking readings from people's wheels.

theres an avant the same as yours with wheels that pretty much look the same in the photo sticky thread, saw it today but cant remember which page its on. from memory it was near the middle.

hmm. I just put the same 16" sport winter wheels on (with studded snow tyres). When you work out the colour James let me know. I might have to do mine too. 18" RS6s for summer and 16" sports for winter. both in graphite grey (or whatever the colour turns out to be).
 
audi upgrades
ill call audi tomoz guys for the colour and see what i can find out as i no james got his silver from them so they must sell that one too
 
The RS6 plus colour is 8AU Titan Grey - but I think that's too light for my dolphin grey. Boozehounds colour looks about right, I'll PM him and ask.

Boozehound bought the wheels that colour, so I'm back to square one!
 
james just pop into any car paint shop the will have all the colour charts and you can match or pick one you like mate
 
The RS6's are going in this week to be done.

I'm still dithering on colours.....
 
Im doing my rs6s in graphite soon as well. What colour did you go for? I think I will just look through the Motip catalogue and make my mind on one of them

haha. just trying to throw some curve balls in there for inspiration. maybe on a subconscious level when I say "hey, tartan RS6s rims!" you'll think "nah **** that, definitely graphite grey." and then "ooh, I just made a decision!" :)
I'm really tempted to do something utterly daft but
A) there's a risk I'll look like a ****, and
B) it's taken quite a lot of effort so there's a high probability of choosing a silly colour and wanting to change immediately.
