So, i bought a Brembo kit from a guy a couple months back off ED38. He said he's sure they came from an Alfa GT V6. The kit came with the following:

Brembo calipers
Adapters to fit my car
New EBC Red Stuff pads
New LCR 323mm discs
New Braided brake hoses
New pistons and seals

I don't want the EBC Red Stuff pads because they're rubbish so i'm looking for Ferodo DS2500's. Here's my problem, the guy said he's 'sure' they came from an Alfa GT V6. I need to know 100% where they came from so i can get the correct pads!! I'm so stuck because i don't know where they come from :(

The piston sizes in the caliper are 42mm all around not like other ones which have different sizes. Can anyone shed some light on this please? I've been on this case for nearly 2 weeks now and it's really stressing me out. I've got the calipers back yesterday from paint in gleaming smooth bright red and i can't even get them on the car yet because of this! If you have any questions about sizes etc please just ask.

Thanks all

Jay

Jay, might be an obvious route that you have already covered, but might be worth ringing Brembo themselves, quoting a part number and seeing if it rings true with any of their systems?

That's another problem, apparently Brembo don't have phones because they have no contact number on their site and prefer to be contacted via email! God knows how i'd explain this to them over email lol.

Should be able to get dimensions of the brake pads from the manufacturers site, so if these ebc red stuffs fit measure the pads and compare to the dimension for the Alfa GT V6 ferodo ds2500's dimensions?

Have you or are you able to obtain the part number for the pads themself to confirm the ebc pads are for the alfa?

''Dear Brembo,

I have a set of your front brake calipers, apparently from an Alfa romeo GT V6, although I am unable to confirm this, and as such, cannot buy new pads.

the part numbers on the calipers are: XXXXXX and XXXXXX

Could you please confirm which vehicle these were fitted to originally? or which other vehicles would use a brake pad compatable with my calipers?

I have attached some pictures of the calipers in question for clarity

(insert pics here)

Kind regards

DJ Troopa''

Simples.

Well i would of done that Prawn but the serial numbers on the Brembo calipers don't match up on their website. There are also no numbers on the pads and i've already spoken with EBC about this but they are useless! I've checked pad dimensions against Alfa GT V6 pads but they do not match up.

I faxed it the day after you gave me your number Bill?

Just searched on ebc website and the dimension for GT V6 (and GTV 3.2V6) pads (brembo) 131x75x15 so when you get home get the tape out, part no. is DP31540C (BR)

For the earlier GTV (3.0) and fiat coupe turbo which also ran brembos the pad dimensions are 110x69x17 part no. DP31031C, these have the same dimension as the seat leon cupra R pads (110x69x14 part no. DP31140/2C) except they are thicker

nothing arrived here

can you scan it and email it to bill@badger5.co.uk

Thanks Chopper. The length of my pads are 132mm and height from the highest part of the pad to the lowest part of the pad is 67mm. This has been measured on the backplate of the pad. Am i measuring from the correct points? I was told backplate by someone and another company said do it from the actual pad?

Bill - You'll have another one coming to you shortly. Won't be able to scan as i don't have one here at work unfortunately!

Thanks

Jay

Taken from ebc website:

Dimensions are Width x Height x Total Thickness in mm.
Total Thickness = New thickness of the pad including the backing plate.
Width x Height = As if you a drawing a box around the pad and measuring left to right and top to bottom (the measurements may include gaps depending on the pad design).

I think you have GTV calipers not GT ones. The GTV discs are the same thickness as the LCR discs so you wont have any issues with fitting, where as the GT discs are 4mm thicker.

why dont you look for an alfa of the same model being broken on ebay and ask the guy for a single set of pads and match them up to the pads you already have?

Am unsure to your calipers now after re reading your opening post and saying the pots are all the same size unlike the GTV/fiat brembos. Why dont you go into a alfa dealership and ask if you could see a set of pads from a GT V6 and compare

Thanks for the info guys. I've spoken to an Alfa dealership and they don't want to help. They said they don't have any part numbers for Brembo's so they won't know anyway? Confusing i know lol.

Bill - you have fax! ;) Bill if i'm right, something is telling me the EBC Red Stuff part number for what i have is, DP31110C. I have a PDF version of the EBC catalogue with all pads they supply with pictures and dimensions. It also shows what car/caliper it goes for. The DP31110C comes under the Brembo Racing Caliper range. Let me know.

Appreciate your help guys.

No worries, i've found a way to send by email so i'll do it now to the email address you provided above.

Thanks

According to the ebc website the part no you posted returns a pad with dimensions of 123x44x17 and is for a db7 and other high performance makes (F40, F50 Audi R8)

The number i posted up is this one...... it's also printed in the EBC pdf catalogue i have.......

DP31110C.jpg

Its listed as this one on my search..
DP31110C - EBC Redstuff Brake Pads ' Both Wheels '

Someones catalogue listing is wrong!

lol - so many to choose from..

that image you scanned and sent, is 1:1 scale yea?

lol i'm so confused with these pictures. Your one says 123mm and mine is 132mm length??

The picture i sent you Bill is exactly how i drew it here. Is it measuring 132mm length when you put a ruler on it? If so then that's okay then. I just popped it into the scanner and hit send so it should go through as original.

your image is the same 132mm size you posted yes.
to answer your earlier question, the pads are not like lcr's at all

Thank you Bill, really appreciate that!

Yes LCR Brembo's would have been alot easier but oh well! When we figure out where these are from and they go onto the car then maybe people will start to find what i have and put them on their S3's too, especially if they're cheaper than other Brembo options.

Here's pics of my Brembo's as requested (fresh from the painters might i add!) You will see calipers, adapters, and 1 pad (yes i do have 4 pads lol) ..........

I heard they're no good and eat into your discs easily? Even if i put the red stuffs on, when it comes to getting new pads, i'd still be stuck! I need to get everything figured out now before it goes on the car.

Seeing as it hasn't been mentioned I'll throw the spanner in the works, are these definately the right pads for those Brembo calipers?
