I could not live with Java Green, Pink, Orange, White, Sphere Blue... YUK YUK YUK. I bet the dealer will have difficulty shifting them!

For me Black(metallic) to Silver with SOME of the shades in between or maybe Moro/Deep Sea Blue. Most dealers feel the same when it comes to pricing a PX so it may not pay in the longer term being too 'individual'.

I agree with the Java Green pink and orange

I would definitely turn my head to look but wouldnt like to be stepping out of it in a busy car park bit to out ther for me!!!
 
Do dealers have to specify or have one in paint from the individual range to demonstrate it as it seems most dealers have one - my local has a 2.0tdi 170 quattro dsg BE in blue (not sure which blue). I mean, given the current waiting list 6 months ago a salesman actually placed an order for that car to come in green, pink, orange etc
 
Mine has been delivered! Only had 5 mins with it as I had to get back to work. But I love it already. Can't wait for the drive home. Will have photos up tomorrow!

what do you all think about the difference between 'phantom black' and the standard black?
everyone tells me 'you need to see the phantom in the daylight'.... is there a noticable difference? is it worth the extra money? does anyone have any comparison pics?
really appreciate all your help :)
 
I can't stress how much better it is and easier to maintain, it's also worth the extra £500 (I think thats the cost)!
 
Managed to update my avatar with a pic I took on my phone. Miserable weather, but think it looks great!

Was going to upload more phone pics, but couldn't figure out how to without uploading them to a hosting website first. Is there anyway to post pictures straight from the computer?

Will take some proper photos tomorrow, and hopefully won't have to upload them elsewhere first.

Phantom is a great colour... we've had it on A4,A5,A6, TT and A3 and have another on order. PB is a superb colour and very practical too (for a Black). Standard Flat Black will be really high maintenance and looks bad when not 100% clean whereas PB is very forgiving.... as you will see we love it!
 
Had two metallic black A3s (Panther then Phantom). Like all blacks - they look totally awesome when clean but don't stay clean long.

Cool, will do. Gave the car a wash and wax today, and took plenty of photos. Was hoping to have them up by now, but my internet has decided to stop working! On my phone atm. Will have them posted ASAP.

I wasn't aware that A3 ever did Panther Black. The predescessor to Phantom was Ebony Black which was a metallic rather than a pearlescent finish and no where near as good or forgiving as Phantom.

As promised, photos of the new car. I managed to get these in yesterday before it decided to start chucking it down! Typical weather having just cleaned it. Oh well, I love it! I don't now why red is not a more common colour for BEs. I think it looks great. But at least I have a less common one :yes:

Finally! Car looks superb as I first said after briefly seeing your avatar, looks much better now! Completely agree with what you say as well, there should be more around because that looks great, makes yours less common and more unique though like you say!

In my 140 BE I've just managed this over a 20 mile straight road stuck behind a lorry and cars. Average speed of 55mph. Very impressed had just filled up and showed 845 miles till fill up!

Its a 2.0 TDI 140 Black Edition. I wanted the 170 but would have had to wait 3 months longer so just got the 140 and love it. Was thinking of a remap but actually dont know if it would be worth the money in the end. My drivings chilled out alot since having this car!! Just nice to enjoy the drive and i know 140bhp isnt alot but its enough for everyday driving.
 
I test drove the 140 and is a very nice drive, but I was sitting in the dealers and thought if I am paying this much money just get the best you can regardless.

I do still wonder if I should have gone for the 140 as I have toned my driving down since having a new baby, but what the hell you only live once.
