I am looking for a set of Genuine S-Line (RS6) Wheels for my 8P A3. I have decided I want the 18" over 19".

Offset:

I am aware of S-Line being available for A3, A4 etc... Could someone enlighten me to whether there is an Offset choice and if so, whats the best offset to get the best flush fit on the 8P A3?

Tyre Size:

I am more persuaded to get 235/40/18 (PS2) all round but wondered if there was any feedback on a better tyre size? I see the 225/40/18 is a common choice and will be cheaper and more readily available if in need for a used tyre too.

And if there is a set on here going PM me details! ;)

TIA,

If you want an OEM set I suggest you get the A4 version, the original A3 ones are to small and have a to high offset to fit the wheel arches. The A4 versions are not exactly flush either, but it's the better choiche and look much better if you want an OEM set.

Recommended tires for this setup are 225 40 18.

If possible you might as well go for the correct wheels for your car.... A3 s-lines which are 7.5x18 ET54, with tyres 225/40/18.

If you go for the A4 s-lines they are probably going to come with 235/40/18 tyres, giving a higher profile tyre edge.

Don't know how well the suggestion above will work... 225 tyres on 8x18 wheels. This isn't the recommended tyre/wheel combination.

I've got A3 s-lines and although they don't sit flush with the arches they certainly don't look "too small".

As said I would get the correct A3 wheels... If you get the 8x18 wheel of the A4 and fit them to the A3 they look wrong as they are too wide. Correct A3 S-Line tyre is 225/40 R18. To give you rough price to pay, I sold a set back in June off of my car (upgraded to the current S-Line wheels) and I got £500 for them with Pirelli Rosso tyres.

Thanks all for the above comments and links. This clears things up and understand what to look for now.

The A4 lower offset (ET53) I think with best suited for me filling the arch a little more and would prefer to run a wider 235 tyre all round. But if they are too wide I will abort for obvious reasons. Need more pics please to help show!

@ aythreee: When you say a the A4 may have a higher profile tyre edge 235/40/18 the 225/40/18 will still have a 40 profile tyre edge. Not sure what you mean here?

I run a wider 265/35/18 on my other car now and difference is night & day over the 235/35/18 ran before, but for all different reasons and using for track work only... so a 235 over the 225 for the S-Line wheels I think will be best for road use. But still happy to hear people out.

I also have the A3 S-Lines and I agree that they look very good on our cars , however I think a wheel that sits 'flush' with the arches just looks a bit better. A 225 40 on an 8 inch is no problem, most of the replica's are 8 inch wide and are fitted with a 225 40 tyre.

8x18 ET43 surely is not to wide for an A3...

Thanks, appreciated. I will be hopefully looking for an A4 set, although your pics of the A3 dont look too bad. Looks Smart! Now looking for pics of an A4 set to compare.

Anyone got pics of Grey A3 on Grey RS6s, although prob prefer OEM? Seen some on Fleebay.

A4 is ET43, A3 is ET54 (The lower the ET, the more it sticks out)

This is the A4 set Karbonk! (also in post #2)

I know, I ment lowest offset as in lowest number, meaning A4 ET43 being best.

Haha... Sorry yea read it wrong and was thinking this was your car when you said you have the A3 S-Lines. Looks good to me and not too far out tbh.
Now.... Where do I Sign?

Correct. Listen to him, he is spot on. If you buy a4 wheels, you wont have to shell out around £100 for wheel spacers which a LOT of people on here have done. Be smart and get the lower offset.

Everytime I see a A3 with standard wheels, I ALWAYS think they look like they are to far in :) I know they come from the factory like this, but it still looks poop. LMFAO

No they dont look wrong. :detective2:

I have fitted A4 dtm's to mine. 43 offset and 8j width. They cam fitted with a 235, but this was a little bit too wide. Stuck some 225's on and hey presto, perfect!

The 225 tyres do not look stretched in any way on a 8j rim, so i am not sure why peeps are saying they wont fit properly!!!

Anyway a couple of pic's for you . I know they ain't s lines, but the sizes are the same as the a4 s lines you WILL get LOL !

I'm now going to go hide before I get lynched :p

Looking very smart, and yes the A4 offset 53 is what im hunting down. Thanks!

P.s what wheels are they? Look similar to what I run on my M. Im wanting to say Team Dynamcis but somehow thinking they might be OZ Superleggera, cant make it out from the angles.

Very nice, and i agree with you completely.
Just to confirm they are 18" wheels on there right?
Also, I kept reading that 8j 45ET is the lowest offset we can use with standard ride height without rubbing, looking at yours id say 40 would be fine even??? Id certainly like another few mm off the rear.
Im due to order wheels for mine so found your pics of ET43 very useful thanks (mines the S-Line also).
ET42 or possibly ET40 even for me i think.

Thought id update the post & share a recent purchase of freshly refurbished ET53s+ new 235/40 Conti Sport3 all round, thanks again all for the above advice.
