Is it possible and not bad for the gearbox to change from D to S while driving? I'm afraid to just try it.

BTW, is it normal you sometimes have spinning wheels with a V6 quattro when driving away from standing still?

There is no problem at all changing from D to S whilst driving. All that happens is that in S the gear change points are set to different revs. There is nothing that actually happens is the DSG itself, only in the electronics that control the it.

I remember when i took NHN out in the 170 when i 1st got it, and he just slammed it into "S" whilst i was driving!!!

I was like WTF are you doing

Nothing wrong with it though as said above

Ah mate I'm welling up, the memories

Yes, you can go from D to S on the move. Just be careful if you are in the middle of a manoeuvre when doing this - the 'box might decide to drop down a gear and it can leave you with no power for a fraction of a second. I was nearly caught out by this when I first had my DGS and changed to S whilst pulling out to overtake - the car lost thrust and it was a very tight overtake at that point!

Cheers,
Dan
