A6 3.0TDI - White/ Blue Smoke on acceleration

Hi Guys,

A friend of mine has a 3.0TDi Auto and if the car has been idling for a few seconds, say at some lights and he accelerates away he get a big puff of white smoke with a slight tint of blue.

Any ideas?

Quite possibly oil seal in turbo gone... and oil going into exhaust.

Check oil level if it is losing oil, then it is the seal.

Fix sooner rather than later.

Go to the diesel forum there a number of threads, this one is the longest running
'00 2.5tdi clouds of white smoke!!!

Although the 3.0TDI isn't specifically mentioned i would be surprised if the basic reasons didn't still apply.
