B6 S4, or a B7 2.0T Quattro?

Shall I buy a B6 S4, or a B7 2.0T Quattro?
Both great - but very different cars..
 
All depends what you want. If you want that V8 noise and an S range Audi or an easy to tune 2.0T B7 A4.
Both really nice cars but as you said very different. Go for some test drives and do some research on both vehicles.
If i could pick i'd have the S4 for the simple reason the noise it makes. And there very good cars.
Thats if i could afford the running costs.

go for the s4 I wish I had , bought the 2.0t had it chipped and still disappointed,hardly any difference from standard unlike the other turbo cars I had tuned.
 
S4 all day long. You will need to take into account the higher running costs of the S4 against a 2.0t. Audi parts are expensive but S/RS parts are extra on top. As stated above, test drive the two and the choice will be made easy for you. I like the look of the B6 S4 but not a big fan of the B7 S4, far to standard looking
 
just to add dont discount the 3l tdi and 3.2l v6 worth trying all models to get a fair comparison

Hi I have owned both, I dont care what anyone says about a highly tuned turbo engine I promise you nothing beets that feeling of power a big V8 gives you and the sound!!! only reason I now have the 2.0T is I was spending £80 a week on petrol as opposed to now around £50, if I could afford it I would still have the S4
 
2.0t for me.. newer, lower running costs and if tuned by remap miltek system plus sports cat and cold air induction and few smaller mods youd be pushing 300bhp and around 470torque or more.. being alot lighter it would leave the s4 sittin, nicer lookin car to top it off...
 
You will not get a A4 2.0T to 300bhp with out a diff turbo and a very expensive HPFP .... what you been smoking mate ?

course u can! dont give up your day job mate. they will map to 270bhp safely, sports cat will free up 15bhp, a cold air induction will give 10bhp to 30bhp, a proper one that is. the guy that tuned mine bet me if i he put an itg in mine id get near 30bhp alone, and he'd dyno it for proof, miltek full system 4bhp. done.

The ko3s won't even flow enough air to get to 300 bhp on the A4 engine. You'd also be suffering major fuel cuts approaching 275-280bhp because the std fuel pump isn't up to it.

This is the kinda thing you'd need to see 300bhp or more on a 2.0tfsi B7 A4;

i disagree.. plenty member on here are pushing 290bhp with remap and test piple alone! and a stack members are mapped to 275bhp without and upgrades or fuel cut outs!

i talking from facts and figures form quite few members on here, where are u getting your info from??

www.torquetronix.co.uk give him a call. ask him about mapping the 20.t fsi and the itg induction kit he fits and what bhp would u end up withand any fuel or turbo probs...

on the site he has dif stage pakages first one is a 300bhp for the 2.0t fsi engine, check it out.

im away for few days now. ill call him myself as well when back because if u say the turbo and fuel pump arnt uo to 275 then ill see why he's offering the itg as it will cause my car probs if put to that bhp!

Well I'm already suspicious of their claims as they've even made the mickey mouse mistake of saying all the STD figures for cars in the remap comparison charts in bhp when they shoul be ps.

Also your wording in one of your posts is very close to their stage 3 product description for a3s golfs etc.... Which wouldn't even fit an a4 install.

Can you find me some one on here running the power you claim
With out changing the turbo / hpfp / injectors ?
 
what wouldnt fit the a4?? fone the guy.. he knows his stuff mate. no harm to u but u only think u do.
 
The engine in the A4 is mounted totally different to the A3, longitudinally rather than transverse thats why.

a guy in this thread has his mapped to 277hp...

ITG cold air induction you mentioned earlier getting 30bhp more.... ITG only do a panel filter for the A4.

Anyway I'd rather go by the research I've done for my future performance mods via people I've spoken to at places like APR, ECS, MRC, Bluefin and the guys at quattro gmbh (at necarsulm where I visited recently while on holiday in Germany).........

than internet dong wangling on who can get the most peak bhp over a 200rpm powerband with just a remap and a panel filter advised to them by some guy who does off the shelf chip tuning etc.

It is similar power on both engines. Tdi comes with better fuel consumption but it is still a diesel.
Both are easy to remap and although petrol will reach more hp, diesel will have more than 500Nm which is amazing.
Is it worth to put extra money for a diesel?
 
If you're a point and squirt driver go for the tdi. The reason I say this is because of the extra weight of the v6 diesel up front makes the handling much less fun.

I have no regrets going tfsi at all !
 
It depends a lot on amount of miles you do a year

3.0TDI any time for me buddy. If you can get a post March '06 one it comes with 233bhp too. I believe MRC can map both to c.270bhp, which with the amount of torque is plenty quick enough. NOt saying the 2.0T is a bad car, far from it, but I'd personally be going for the 3.0TDI :thumbsup:
 
Do you know what is the difference between these diesels ? Is it just remap or smthn more?
 
Tdv version (233bhp) has a dpf, not sure about anything else different short of map. Maybe different injectors but no idea for sure.

And here we have your problem. The tfsi in the a4 is not the same as the a3/golf/Leon etc and can't produce the same gains with the same mods. This is what has been confusing you.
 
nothing confusing to me mate.. the itg cia if u read is heavily modified to fit the a4 fsi, just because apr doesnt sell it doesnt mean it cant modded! did u fone the guy?? ive a pipercross viper filter im about to mod with cold air induction hoses in my a4, it aint rocket science..

on a regular basis he puts the stage 3 into the 2.0t 200bhp and gets it to 300bhp with no probs or come backs! fone him and tell him he's wrong and your rite and post how you got on...

the guys u spoke to prob gave u figures on maps only, thats if u even spoke to anyone..

it is olny a filter with pipes and bends u know...
 
you will NOT get 30bhp gain on the A4 just from a filter. The OEM A4 air intake is fine for anything up to 400bhp. Go do some proper research instead of listerning to these chip tuners who buy their maps and parts in.
 
sorry but the paper filters are very restrictive and a cold air induction in the fsi will give close to 30bhp.. theres load others will give 15-25 and sorry again as i watched the tuner custom map my car..

did u fone him yet with your expert insite??
 
exactly mate. though i would love u to call him and tell him that his stage 3 doesnt and cant work even though he does it on a daily basis.....
 
:think: :think: Oh.... do you have your RR graph to support your grandoise 264bhp ? And if you can gain 30bhp from a filter and a bit of pipe.... how come you're not running 294 bhp ?
 
A bit of research on any VW/Audi related forum will show that you will not get 300bhp from k03.
 
research on a forum lol would you not be better talking to professionals that do this on a weekly basis, fone the guys at torquetronix and tell them that all the 2.0tfsi engines that theyve sent out of there shop at around 300bhp have got it totally wrong and they have imagined doing it...

theres a guy on here who is pushing 290bhp with remap, yous can ask him if his car cuts out as u claimed..

The A4 2.0TFSI turbo's cannot flow enough air for 300bhp. Its a simple fact.

Why do you think that APR and others go to the trouble to fit the S3 KO4 Turbo?? Cos its bigger and flows more than the Stock Audi Turbo.

The A4 WILL NOT make 300bhp without changing the turbo.
 
Maybe you should call other "professionals that do this on a weekly basis" and talk to them about that.
Maybe you should go to other tuner and check your car on dyno with induction kit and see if you really get 30bhp from it.
You can do exhaust, intake etc. but K03 will not flow 300bhp

does the guy not use a dyno and not the shity rollin road one, the hub dyno dont get more accurate. obviously he's got them figures from countless times doing so.. you stick with ur aero wiper mods on ur tdi b6 lol was told before alot of people on forums are full of ***** and now i belive it..

yet again i dare yous to fone him and tell him all the fsi 200bhp's he's tuned to 300bhp with stage 3 dont work... double dare ya big girls..

ive also posted 2 guys on here pushing the bhp yous say cant be done but are doing it, ive flooded yous with actual facts ***...
 
no you have't..... you haven't even show'd us the graphs for your map, and neither has the guy running "290" just from a remap.
