Hi , i was expecting to take delivery of my new A3 sportback sometime in November and have now been told it is now likely to be March 2011 - subject to any delays . I'm absolutely gutted as this is a bit of a double whammy . Not only have i got to wait another 3-4 months theres the extra 2.5% vat to come in in January . I have been told that the delay is due to parts shortages and the fact that Audi do not have the factory capacity to cope with the amount of orders . From a wait point of view it wasn't so bad as March would see a new reg , but why the hell should i have to find another 2.5% when the car was ordered end of July . I have heard that VW have anounced that they will absorb the extra vat , how true this is i don't know , but i would think it is a bit late in the day for Audi to follow suit . I'm wondering whether it would do any good writing to Audi UK in the hope that they might do the same . Has anyone had any luck with matters like this dealing direct with Audi UK ? If so has anyone please a name and address to write to so as to explain my frustrations , thanks ?:banghead:

July ordered....March delivered, that is shocking,I would consider going elsewhere or buying a driven one.

Yes write to audi UK as they changed the contract of sale to a different date, so you shouldnt be liable to pay the increased price vat or not, jeremy.hicks@audi.co.uk is MD for UK & richard.starkey@audi.co.uk is customer services director iirc, ping them an email, as tbh its very unfair if you didnt select this date originally.

Also you may have bought based on price acceptable, this is now above the price you'd accept & therefore cancel, I believe you have a strong case given your paperwork must state some date.

Ordered mine August 5th and given a build date of week 13 2011 so I will wait even longer than you.

I was in VW last week and they said any car ordered before end of sept will be 17.5 % no matter when it is delivered. I guessing Audi just don't care. If you don't buy it someone else will....If you do write to Audi guess a lot of people will be interested in the reply.
Not really a good attitude and perhaps so many people are getting their orders put back it is time for Audi UK to come out and say something. So far it seemed to be the BE models that had the main problem. You do not say it was a BE , so I wonder if it is the headlining causing the problem..? Had you been given a build week? I am starting to look at other cars in anticipation of getting mine delayed so I can decide whether to cancel my order. If they get enough cancelled orders that will solve the problem won't it !

Thanks guy's , shocking it certainly is . If i thought that i could get it quicker by going elsewhere this is exactly what i would do , but everyone is suffering from the same circumstances and i would then start again at the bottom of the pile . I have thought long and hard about nearly new , but with the deal i had the prices just didn't stack up . I know this price will now rise , but most nearly new are just silly money . NHN , thanks for the links , i will try these . I just browsed through the contract and it doesn't specify November , however they STRONGLY implied this was the likely delivery date . I just wonder how many people would bother placing an order in July if they were told March delivery !!! While i appreciate that the dealer has very little if any control over what happens at the factory i lay the blame for this fair and square at the feet of Audi . Reading the small print there is the normal rubbish about not guarenteeing this and that , so legally i don't see that i'll get anywhere but morally it stinks .

Interesting my order form gives a approx del date of 30th Oct. I contacted my dealer last week and he confirmed in writing to me that my order had gone back a bit ,but was now confirmed for build week 46 , he even sent me a copy of the computer screen (from Audi?) confirming this. There are no Tand C on the rear of the order form and I checked the dealers website for T and C and again there are none.

Mine's not a BE however it does have black rooflining . I think that the problem is much bigger than this as i have been told that A5 and Q5 - July BUILD and if you want an A3 with the 1.4l petrol engine - NO build week available . Jbs2472 , i reckon my order was probably placed with Audi around a week before yours , but as yet is not 'build confirmed' so March is just an estimate as far as i can see and it say's 'subject to any delays - WTF !

mmm think you may be right. There have been a number theories going around...i think it is worth a few emails to see what they say , and I for one will be interested in the result. There is another issue that concerns me, if they are really behind on orders will build quality suffer on cars being built now...

I was told the delay on mine was the open sky and s tronic box.

i'm surprised that there's such a rush on what's basically a run out model now. oh well best of luck mate, hope you get it sorted!

and yeah if you have your original delivery date anywhere in writing i'd contact a legal representative thru the citizens advice bureau because you shouldn't be liable for the extra 2.5% for Audi messing up the delivery

OK a bit of info . Have been checking VW on discount sites and they are guaranteeing 17.5% for any order made before end Sept. Seems to back up what the dealer told me, seems VW are behind this. Now aren't VW and Audi the same group ...maybe worth using when you email them.
Also amazing that back in January they layed the A3 workers off for a week...and another amazing things was robots from the A3 production line being used in Trafalger square last week for a light display... It does seem Audi are also being unfair to the dealers who have to deal with unhappy customers. Audi UK needs to pressure Audi germany in light of the VAT increase..it is not fair to expect dealers to fund it.

Looking back on this site over the years this does not seem to be a new thing.... Just as a matter of interest do you have an agreed price for your trade in. Holding them to that is one benefit. ..no consolation and to be honest I might walk away if mine goes back 3/4 months and go and buy a BMW.

I've never been fortunate enough to order a brand new car but that sort of wait would make my **** boil. An A3, no matter what version, is not special enough to warrant such a time. Especially considering the platform is 6 years old and the parts have been in production for years. Should be 6-12 weeks as per industry norm.

This is a bit concerning, ive a mate who ordered a new R8 in july and was told november delivery date. Think I will get him to confirm too.

This loses them sales. I was in the Dealer pricing a S3 ( dont tell Paul) but the fact they couldnt give me a build date and it was likly to be April 2011 meant i gave up on that idea. I would be so ****** off if it arrived and they had finally come up with the new model. I am now looking used, a year old and save £4k with instant delivery. Just dificult to find a well spec'd car.

Paddy... You should save 3k on a new S3 4k on a year old one does not sound a good deal.

LMFAO classic, I'll pm post link lol

Why buy new and pay all that extra for the first 1000 miles ?

****** good point, absolute lunacy, always will buy 2nd user as losing 7k driving of forecourt is just stupid imho & you still have the warranty huh.

musicegbdf , Hadn't planned to trade in so nothing in the deal there . My broker has offered me free diamondbrite as a bit of a good will gesture , but because i had got a really good deal in the first place they couldn't go anywhere with regards the vat increase . I just wonder how they can expect dealers to sell their cars when they quote such unreasonable delivery dates and that is if you are lucky enough to get a date . It must be very tough on them . I think that the whole system for ordering needs a radical overhaul . Is it normal to go into any other manufacturers dealership and order a new car without having any idea when to expect delivery - i don't know ! Audi may be comfortable for a few to cancel orders whilst they have obviously such a vast order bank to back fill cancelled orders , but what happens when this is not the case . You can only p*** people off for so long .

These people want £34,750 !! and its a 10 plate not ready till Jan so its going to be nearly 2 plates old.....No cruise,no buckets.
I priced this up at £32.5k. ****** silly prices
Audi S3 2.0 T FSI quattro 3 Door S-Tronic With Glass Sunroof

But put 900miles on it and
Audi S3 2.0 T FSI quattro S Tronic 265 PS

And its £7k cheaper.

Why buy new and pay all that extra for the first 1000 miles ?

Tech pack etc now standard... will be vital in a few years for resale. No BE pack. Ex Audi Car BUT you pays yer money... Bet the New one at Portsmouth is priced the same as a new one... Try for 5-10% off. or more cos its 'Tippex White' :yum:

That is the problem it should not be the dealer who has to cut his margin. VW are clearly covering themselves. Offering the diamondbrite is pretty fair. It costs around £350 if you pay for it. I have had sureguard on a lot of my cars and it is worth it. So some consolation.
It is worth emailing Audi, they need to see how upset customers are. I did this to Toyota for my daughter when her clutch failed just out of warranty and the dealer wanted £700 to fix it . The dealer confirmed it was a design fault , but we had to pay £300 towards the repair. I complained by email and got a full refund !
I really feel for you and not sure what I will do if my delivery falls back to after 4th Jan. I will try hard to get compensation for the VAT , but have concern that the dealership will be happy to take the car into stock as they can sell it fairly quickly knowing the long order time. I do have a trade in so will gain a bit there. I also have in my mind what I will press for , and in simple terms I am paying for the diamondbrite , so will press to get this for free as the cost to the dealer is actually fairly low.
To be fair to my dealer when I ordered mine (mid August) he showed me the screen on the dealership computer and it stated BE ordered at that time would be for build week 11 2011. For the spec I wanted it showed week 39. Mine is currently confirmed for build week 46 , so it did drop back 7 weeks. With 3/4 weeks to delivery after build I am hoping for delivery on week 49/50. Time will tell. Must admit not sure why yours has gone back, perhaps Audi Uk can tell you.

Thanks to NHN i have emailed both Jeremy Hicks of Audi uk and Richard Starkey at customer services about this so i will feed back when i hear . If yours is confirmed for week 46 you should be ok . I don't go with this 'confirmed' lark as they can still move it back , can they not ?

Will interesting to see what they say... Yes I agree I do not trust "confirmed " but am keeping my fingers crossed

My lovely S3 is for sale. Like new, v low mileage!

David

SUCCESS !!! I have just had an email back from my dealer saying that due to my correspondance with Audi ( Jeremy hicks / Richard Starkey ) - thanks NHN , my car build date has now been brought forward and the car will be with me end of November thus avoiding the VAT increase , so what a bonus . So anyone in the same position as me - give it a go , they obviously have the ability to juggle orders about to suit and like me it may save you a few hundred quid .

My mate has just been told they cant give him a date on delivery for his R8 that was due early November - will pass on email address's.......

Yes he sorted me aswell, with Isabel and Jeremy. Jeremy even rang me personally to sort.

Wow that's good news . It seems there are some starting to come through now. Hopefully Audi UK have pressed Audi HQ because of the VAT increase. Sounds like you have a copy of the same screen dump I was given , mine showed 201046 so build week 46 (15th Nov) so am hoping around week of 6th Dec to take delivery. If I get any hassle I know now where to go. , but seems the key is getting a build week given to you.

A big thank you for all your help. Email address was useful to have.

Just had a call from my dealer (first I've heard from him in over 10 weeks)

Build week 13 2011, so looking at delivery late April 2011. Ordered July. What a load of old ******** :(

Still, more fool me for putting up with this ***** I suppose...

You have been given the exact same build week as me and I ordered August 5th

Was going to sort out and order an A3 in the next 3-4 weeks for March 2011 delivery !!!!! Dont think i will bother now !!! Sounds like delivery would be close to the new A3 model release !!!! Time for a change me thinks.
