Is it actually supposed to pop the bootlid? I can hear the latch go when I hold the button on the remote for 2 seconds but it doesn't actually pop open. Maybe my boot struts are knackered?

the boot mechanism for some i think is those complex ones but some just have one single metal bars, like in my cabriolet the boot lid opening mechanism is really complex so it wont pop up just hear the latch, and my b8 had the simple one that could pop up half way but not to the top. i think thats normal, but anyone else got any other ideas? correct me is thats not normal ill be going to audi lol.

Seems kind of pointless then considering facelifts have the soft-touch release - not much more effort just to release it with your hand lol.

Or maybe the point is you can lock it with the key enabling you to one-touch unlock it with the remote without the key, meaning no one can steal stuff from your boot when you're stopped at the lights? :p

lol probably thats the point, one thing i found that is useful is that when you finish shopping in supermarkets and you release the boot with the button, the car doors are locked but only the boot is open, and after you close the boot it locks itself while you put the trolley away, comparing to unlocking the whole car and open with touch, the boot will not lock after closing.

just dont forget to keep hold of your key when using the remote boot release

meaning no one can steal stuff from your boot when you're stopped at the lights? :p

I would love to see someone have a go at doing this to mine...apart from getting filthy hands, i always leave a good space between me and the car in front ready for such an occasion. can only hope they would be half inside the boot when i dropped the clutch! :)
