Hi guys

13 mile drive to work all slow motorway this morning.
Pulled out to overtake someone and then the car lost power and started juddering!
The yellow gearbox light symbol came up on the dash also!
Wouldnt accelerate and wouldnt go over 40mph!
Is it a coil pack or something else?
I work for the aa and have just called them out, should be here within an hour!

Whats the worst its going to be!!!
there wasnt any smoke so dont think its the turbo!

Gareth

Chest a boost pipe hasnt popped of mate.

I was thinking it could be that! Seemed a bit strange that as soon as i booted it it lost all the power!
It might be that, aa here now so will update!
Too wet outside to look!

Coil pack!
Ive got AA breakdown cover with brc and it cost me £25 excess to sort!
All 4 were replaced 13k ago and 1 had gone again!
I do work for a good company dont i ;o)
Happy days!

Il also point out that anyone else who gets the same problem the symptoms are above plus a bit of a burning smell in the cabin!
Happy now!
Smiling like a cheshire cat!

If your coil packs are going that soon it maybe worthwhile checking the plug gaps.... 0.7mm on a mapped car (thanks Mark ;D)

Had a Leon FR in a while back for a K03 hybrid and the plug gaps on that were 1mm!!! needless to say when the mapping started the coil packs started failing big time where they had been trying to get a spark across a 1mm gap....

Coil packs are prone to failure but ensuring your plug gaps (and general condition of plugs of course) are right will help prolong their life...
