Coming from a modded TT with Koni Coilovers and Adjustable tie bars, Im well aware of the issues with Camber when majorly lowering the 4wd audi platform.

Now the TT's gone and I have a 2001 S3, Im not looking to go down the spending loads route again on coils etc, but do want some lowerage :) I wondered if a 30mm drop on something like Apex springs will still need adj. tie bars & if the camber will be ok?

Anyone have any experience of trying -30mm springs on their S3 with stock tie bars? Oh, and some pictures of this setup on 18's pref would be cool too? :)

Many thanks
Tim

I have Apex -30mm springs on Bilstien B8 campers... you will still need adjustable tie bars as the camber is just silly...

The general consensous is that lowering springs on standard shocks give for a pretty gash ride.

THanks guys for the info and pics. Was hoping to avoid buying tie bars again, but sounds like I wont get away with it!

Really depends on if you value killing your rear tyres? Tie bars are not essential, just recommended! Plus we have a chap on here selling Custom S/S ones for half the price of Forge ones. :)

I've not ran Adjustable bars on my S3 for 20k miles, but I have got some to be fitted yet.

Im interested, where do I find such a man/post about these custom SS ones :)

So is it ok to lower 25mm ?

Also how much lower is the S3 to a A3 quattro ?

Thanks will send a PM over to dave soon.

On the TT forum some people seem to 'get away' with 25-30mm springs without Adj. Tie bars, but others suggest they needed them. I guess its just down to opinion on what is an 'ok' level of camber & how many miles they do a year.

Anyone have a pic of -30mm without adj. tie bars fitted so I can see the level of camber?
