Front black grill surround! Anyone done it?

Hey I was thinking of spraying the chrome grille surround black along with the Audi rings on my black a3. has anyone done it and got pictures please?

i have the OEM black grill installed, gloss surround with matt grill! I know its not the same but might give you an idea:

Mattyboyc did a great job on his A4.
Contact him and he will tell you what u need.
 
Is yours the twin or single grill?? I did some of the chrome on my twin grills to make it look a single grill.
 
twin grill, i was looking at black grill surround, as the cars black, thought id look good without the chrome, then maybe do the rings black or a dark grey, and see how it look,s just after some cheap subtle mods untill i can afford to start buying some rims etc :)
 
Know what you mean. I did the single grill look and sprayed over some of the Chrome. Easy to do and cheap, just used some Halfords satin black paint after rubbing it down abit but I also did between the grills on the bumper. Rings are easy to do, take them off, quick rub down and spray. After I did my proper conversion I did my rings black but tbh each time I looked at them they looked like they had been nicked! So mine are now anthracite to match my alloys and wing mirrors. Pics below may give you some ideas.

Ahh yeahh thats similar to what i was thinking of doing,
the Anthracite rings with the black looks really smart actually, i like it. done a nice job.
 
Sarah get rid of that poxy splitter, totally ruins your front end, car that is :p

Hey hey hey,i like mine but as Sarah says think mine might be a pain when i get my springs fitted
 
yeah ive thought about it but i like the look of it as it is im converting the front early next year so not doing anything else to it for now

Yes but it ruins the nice lines of the S3 front, as yours is Sline then maybe looks better given its not as aggressive styled as such.

Sorry didnt read properly you were on about S3 bumpers,Hey man mines aggressive :) especially at 5 oclock and i want to get home from work

Yeh the S3s more aggressive looking from the S Line Nige but the splitter also adds aggression cos it lowers the lines further! It'll go soon enough lol
 
TBH sar me love, at any height the splitter looks **** on an S3 front, sorry but just IMHO.

Would you believe they left a bottom wishbone bolt/bush loose ! No wonder i couldnt keep it in a straight line..lol Muppets. I got them to sort the orange peel out and they re polished the whole car and now its so shiny it looks a bit odd ! hopefully it will tone down a little. Looks like some boy racers detailed car...not my cup of tea at all.....lol

lol, hey so you're a boy racer now P lol! It will tone down lol, least the peels gone, not nice on a car, even worse on thighs, anyway! lol
Glad its all sorted, just keep filling her up...often.

what ******* lol, there's nothing wrong with a shiny enough car i love it when mine's gleaming thats prob why i polish it so often lol
