single grille. iv tried my best to find out as much infor as i can.. iv been part ov a fourm befor so know how helpful they can be :sm4:

so if you kind people would be kind enough to help in any way at all .. in which A3 model to look for which not?? and what spec is best got with the car and which is easy bought fitted after.... and so on ... iv got a vxr at the mo which i will be px +cash+finance.... for good a A3 ... but would like to get it up to the same bhp as mine soon as i can so im not missing the power for to long..mine it running at around 260bhp..so any advice on tunner's( awsome) are coming up a lot are they good? ..advice on what to look out for..which serivce's should of been done and so on...i mean if there is a thread with this infor on please put the link up:sm4: i'll be happy to read it :sm4:

sorry for coming on your fourm guy's/gals asking all theses Q'S ..just trying to find a good fourm i can make a new home in.

so if you kind people could give me as much advice as you can that would be real great..

Like I said on the other forum - good luck !! LOL

how did you know it was me lol ...thank's mate you have been very helpful on the other fourm ..cheer's..not fancy sharing any more infor lol

kind regards micky

You need devonmikeyboy to see this, he gets 260bhp out of his starter motor.

:sm4::sm4:Just a guess !!!!!!!!

Don't have any other info otherwise you would be welcome to it. Like I said - mine's a bog standard 140 sport but goes very well. Can't afford the petrol/diesel for a quattro on my pension !! :sadlike:

i've seen a TDI 170 quattro running >300bhp. speed is most definitely not an issue.

get a Sport or S-Line, and get a car with a double DIN head unit and with auto lights and wipers. then there's very few things you can't retrofit

thank's mike :sm4: yeah alway's had a high power car..tried to drive 1 with less sold it with in a month..just could'nt get used to it...so the 170 think is the min..and then have a little play with it (remap) yeah seen the quattro's are still get 30mpg + 50+ on motoway so should be all good.

kind regard's micky:sm4:

yeah not looking to go over board...just like to know i can get some thing out of it..will need close to 300bhp to make it feel as quick as the quattro is AWD so lose a bit in the drive train...but im happy as long as it's AWD and diesel haha... got a famliy that want to go places now..so kind of have to go diesel .

thank's for the infor mate very greatful.

kind regards micky

Don't forget that a diesel has the torques as well, I reckon a 200bhp derv will have as much pull as your VXR.

I met up with a guy the other day who has a 2006 SLine Quattro 170 remapped, absoloutly stunning car and he was running an average of 43mpg which is well good.

In aspect of the car, I would say to go for the sline spec, you'll regret it if you don't.

yeah 100% agree with you there mate.. a derv that's near 260 bhp will easy have mid to high's 300lbs/ft and will be a so much better power delivery also..much better quality drive in every way .. have driven a few .. just not a 260 or + ..

yeah seems the s-line spec is the way forward 100% agree there.. with it being a quattro will it not come with better spec? just that is 1 of the real resons i was going to go with that..also the AWD is a added bonus.. but used to a fwd car so not really overly concerd about a AWD car... but will be cool.

thank's for the reply.

As far as I'm aware, the lowest spec of a Quattro is the sline so search for a Quattro and sline should follow!

The quattro is obviously more heavier but the driving is so much more refined, and with winter coming, you'll be laughing all the way mate.

thank's for the reply/infor mate ... so quattro it is then....just wonder why there are not much more than a s-line?? just like you say a quattro is/will be more refined drive... so all is good.. prices of them are ok to..pick a good 1 up for around 12/14k .... not bad for a top bit of kit/car... just need to find my seldf a nice blue (r8) colour .. not seen any of yet in my price range think i might hold out for 21 though .. as in no hurry.

thank's again mate.

Defo the Quattro if you want to put that sort of power down in soggy Uk.

Quattros ace! and the diesels are easy to map but just be aware on clutch issues etc if the boost is too high! devonmickey is a good call, he knows too much lol!

yeah think it would be a wise to get the quattro... thinking ahead when tunning ..it's hard geting 260 down on a fwd car with only 270lbs/ft ..would hate to try get 280/290 with 300+lbs/ft fwd... do the audi's come with a LSD standard ? (slip diff)

again thank's for the reply.

yeah think it is going to be a quattro sarah .... i dont now much of the ecu on the audi's but can they be (live) maped or is the best you get is a generic map (custom/tweaked) to your car... just would be best to get the power delivery low till around 3/4k rpms so try save the clutch.

sorry for all the Q'S sarah

Ive tried generic and custom in the past and found the custom was too much boost lol but was my fault as I asked for more lol! as always!

Revo are good, we had a MK4 done by them, was awsome and had no clutch issues! The guys on here have tried a few companies between them and sure they will tell you of their experiences!

thank's .. but in a AWD car sure it is not needed.. was just thinking if they came standard(LSD) that all would not be bad if got a top spec s-line FWD a3 .

Got any links or info on this 300bhp TDI 170 car then ?

it was in PVW a few years ago. not an article or anything - just a write up about a recent rolling road day they'd been at. the aforementioned black 3dr was the car with the highest output - 303bhp or something. if i'm not mistaken it had RS6s on it but it was a long time ago and i'm not sure which issue it was.

I have not heard of anyone getting a PD170 anywhere near 300 bhp. Even now there are only one model of uprated injector for the PD 170 and that only flow about 20-25% over stock so enough fuel to make 280ish bhp if your lucky with a big hybrid. It wasn`t very long ago that tuning companies managed to delete the DPF which you will not get 200 bhp with the DPF fitted.

going to look at a few next wweekend so could be a A3 owner very soon.. but aint jumping in to it..
