I've just noticed a sight issue with my alarm.

I triggered the alarm while messing with the car but only the indicators are flashing, there is no audible warning.

Has anyone got any ideas what would be causing this

I didn't see any codes the last time I scanned with VagCom but will recheck for fresh codes.

im sure its to do with the settings in vag com mate, I know some other cars can have the beep disabled depending on which country code you chose for the settings, alfa beep unless you set it to australia, which is done by pressing the bonnet pin-switch 3 times then holding it till it beeps, then each press after that selects a diff country.....dunno if thats much help but check vag com anyway for codings in the immob and alarm. Audi beeps will probably be in the coding in the module, accessible from vag com.

most likely knackered siren, very common fault
facelift use a battery back up type and the batteries eventually leak which wrecks the rest of circuit board

bargain at £80 from audi !!!!

i got a used replacement from a later model from A8 parts, slightly different design but works perfectly, pretty sure it had the same part number but with an 'A' suffix

you can have mine, I took it out when the battery died and it started going off at 3am.

Silly question but where is the alarm module located on the B5?

below c/l pump, offside boot compartment

try a8 parts first, only cost £25 plus postage

wouldnt bother with an a4 one as they arent designed to last 10 years plus

B6/7/8 all use the same part (well the revised "A" part anyway) as do most other Audi/VW cars so you can get it from anything new.

aragorn is there any modification needed to fit one of these newer units as mine is also silent on my 99 s4 avant, or is it just a straight plug in jobby

cheers
