Got to my car this morning to find that some little so and so have had away with my passenger side mirror!!!! looks like theyve cut the wires but haven't broken the arm. Wierdly they havent gone for the driver side. Not a happy chap this morning i must say!!:gun2::banghead:
Now my innevitable question. How much are these at the steelers or where would be the best place to get a replacement from? Location coventry or london.
Coventry i know theres rowleys or sandburns. Anyone got any suggestions.
Any help welcomed.
 
feel sorry for you mate it happened to me too:crying:, they nicked the glass mirror bit, :gun2:
 
This hasn't happened for a while and I thought it had stopped. There used to be at least 1 post a month where someone had their mirrors stolen.

I think these mirrors are around £250 each if I remember correctly!
 
The main thing is,,, are they the alloy ones?
If so i beleave the delears only sell the painted silver plastic ones now.
Yes they are cheaper but will not match the alloy one,
I was lucky enough to track a pair of new alloy ones down when it happened to me, But they are getting harder to find.
Ebay maybe be the cheapest way of replacing an alloy one. BUT i expect about 50% of the mirrors listed on there are stollen for some poor chap such as yourself.
I know mine got stolen and the tw&t who lived about 5 mins form my house actualy listed them on ebay ( one had a tell tail brown mark on where i hit the drain pipe at home ) I contacted the police and ebay. both said their hands were tied as i couldnt prove a thing.

Sorry to hear this dude, hope you can source another one at a decent price, keep an eye out on E-Gay, something is bound to pop up on there.
 
I felt really 'got at' when somebody nicked my astra van mirror covers, and its a firms van! you must be raging!
As stated ebay is the place to start looking.
pjmspeedy on this forum supplies oem parts at decent prices so maybe worth contacting him, although i think he is on holiday at the moment. good luck.
 
i can confirm after speaking to sheffield Audi just last week that they can still source the proper alu mirrors.....cost is your issue now

Cheers for the responses guys. Yea absolutely gutted and ****** at the same time. My gf has been on the phone to Audi and they've tried to tell her it's going to cost over £600 for one mirror fitted!! I don't think so!!! So what are the differences between aluminium and the shinny ones then? Tim have you got a product code as now Audi won't give my gf the product no as they know well ask elsewhere. I know where I won't be going from now on!!
 
best contacting pjmspeedy or stoke audi off here mate, thats ridiculous if they wont give her the number.....my fella in sheffield said he'd ordered some only few weeeks ago if anyone tells you they cant get em
 
Are we saying that the genuine Alu ones are getting rare, as in they have run out of stock? I have a spare pair lying about, was going to fit them on my own car, but they weigh twice as much as the plastic items!

Thanks for this Dave. I've tried ringin but he not picking up so i've just emailed. See what happens. Spoken to Stoke Audi who are charging £450 for a single unit!!

Makes you feel sick doesn't it mate, same thing happend to me not long ago. Luckily I had my original covers but It still costs quite a bit getting the motors/mirrors and housing from Audi. I miss the bling but I'm not getting them again just to have the same thing happen.
 
I remember mate when it happend to you. Do you happen to have the part no's to hand and a rough estimate of how much the housing and mirrors and motors cost you mate? you can pm me if you want.

Your a star maz thanks for this. So why am I getting a quote of over £400 for just one side wing mirror. Which Audi did you get your bits from mate.
 
No probs, whos charging £400? I got mine from Docklands Audi.

Oh I see! So this will provide me with the housing etc and I'd have to but the aluminium caps to finish it off.

Sorry mate, I thought that was damage from the scum that nicked the mirrors. It's just not possible to wrap these things in cotton wool, they are built to be driven!

Right update: and even more confused.com
So have been to audi who charge up to £100 for the housing and mirror for an a3 mirror which essentially the same as the s3 mirror but the s3 mirror is a whole set. If so this means you cannot take the caps of a s3 mirror. If thats the case what are most people selling when they say genuine s3 mirror caps???
My concern is if i buy an a3 mirror with a cap it wont match my original s3 mirror.
Does this all make sense, someone correct me please if im wrong.

Yes you can take the S3 mirror caps off, I have the caps sitting in my kitchen, they have torx screws than standard cross head ones, but fit the same. If it's £400 for one side complete with Arm, base and Alu cap, then that's cheap for Audi, since the mirror cap alone is £350 each brand new!
 
Ok thanks for clearing that up jojo. So I can buy the standard arm motor and housing and then fit a set of caps by taking off my existing s3 mirror cap if it didn't match? That sound about right bud?

Yes, just make sure you get the correct caps for your year of car, there are 2 types.
 
Are the different types as in chrome or aluminium or is it shape that changes with pre/facelift cars?
