Can anyone confirm something for me

When your led drls are on, are they the same brightness from all angles, or does it vary from what angle you look at them.

Ie are they at their brightest when you stand directly in front of the car, or slightly off centre etc.

Just need to clear something up and would appreciate the help

Cheers

It's dependent on the angle and distance from the bumper, also time of day matters too, the further you walk away from the middle of bumper the brighter they get...

Scotties expand me old china

That sounds like it will be at it's brightest then when you in front of the lens. Makes sense to me :0

Would I be correct in presuming then that when viewed from the side, they are very dim?

Cheers so far fella

:)

Yes, they can be quite dim from the side, but you can also code the brightness via vcds as well. I can relate to your question as I have just completed facelift 2010 S3 to 06 Sport SB with Adaptives and at one point I was on my hands and knees (no pun intended) to make sure both LED's had the correct brightness on both sides.

I think you mean 06 Sport SB to facelift 2010 S3 SB look yes?

i think he does lol unless he is going the other way with modding a car ive never heard of a car modded to look older but these days nothing would supprise me hahaha
but on the question in hand they are the brightest head on as said and dim from the side

I was gonna say, if he went backwards then I'll gladly take the new parts lmfao lmfao on my knees or whatever lmfao.

leave you guys alone for 5 minutes and look what happens...:)

Smut mungers all o' ya

Thanks for the replies peoples. Really helped.

Dean's A3. Have you got any pics of your work my dear fella?

I will post some pics up when all is complete Scottie, still have the side sills and what kick plates to install, a detail etc... :beerchug:

Am looking forward to them pal. For sure.

Chop chop !!

Fran....you soooo did lol!

Scottie....what you up to??? lol, you doing another mod on the lights now!!!

Yeah, as said, right infront of them is where it's brightest, new user so I should really introduce myself, loving my A3 Black Edition :) Although it doesn't seem to have the adaptive headlights? :(

First of all :sign_welcome: ! Great looking car too! Trust me if your car has adaptives you would know about it! When I finally had mine wired and coded right I could not believe how amazing they are!

Thanks guys :) need to post in the Welcome section tbh :) Yeah, all of my cars before have been VAG's :) the Ibiza Cupra I had before had them on and they were amazing, just surprised the A3 doesn't have them :( and thanks Sarah, just been looking at your threads, very nice mods :D

Yeap when I fitted my adaptives which I always wanted thought they were great & whenever I use them, they always without a split second thought, make me smile from cheek to cheek, they're very cool.

Welcome to the site.

I can install adaptives to the car, if ever interested let me know.

ohhhh may be consulting you and trading advice on the coding of the lights, was your sb primed for adaptives initually?

No it was not Phil, had Xenon with halogen full beam, glad I had Xenons as it makes it a lot easier as if not you'd have to retro auto levelling. I'm not as knowledgable as some people on here but if I can help you with anything just give us a shout!

was just curious as my system is primedfor cornering anyway, so did you switch to a facelift light module? or did you manage to get away with a prefacelift?

Primed as in your wired it incase it has them, bearing in mind the bixenon & adaptives are different wiring slightly.

& which module you referring to, the power/ballast module on the headlight itself or another?

its been speced with it nige so the wiring etc is all std for cornering, im on about the light control module located near the steering column

Ahhhh the car originally was adaptive, get yer now & you mean the levelling controller, there are differing modules for levelling & levelling with cornering Phil.

yeah know that, getting a set of adaptives to go with the car, want to keep it the same spec etc plus seems it would be the least hassle with only a region coding change (i hope)

Region coding, expand on that comment?

I used part no. 410 907 357..

top man ill check mine out when it comes back (before the end of the month :))

Surely if you quoted region coding, you know what you meant by it me old cockle as I havnt got a clue except for setting something to country specific or lhd/rhd on the car.

its like country specific, all it saves is a rewire of the plug pins tbh as both lights were adaptive and both have drls and are bixenon, so in theory it should work (im hoping i dont even have to do it)

Well I know for sure bixenon & bixenon adaptives had to be wired differently mate as I have both sets on my cars, so coding didnt resolve that.

yeah i know hency why im staying with the factory adaptive lights (well facelift versions of them) mate

Think I've either missed the point of the discussion or I'm too tired from the kid, to realise wtf I'm talking about lmfao

Phil I hate to say it mate but I think you'll definitely need to rewire, especially to get the LED's to work if you're doing facelift lights. I know coz I had to!

id highly doubt it, worst case is the pin out in the plug tbh, the fact that im not going to xenon from halogen helps but i will inform everyone as always
