Does anyone know if it it is possible to paint over silicone hoses? I have blue sillicone hoses all over my engine, but am looking to bring it back to a more discreet look in black. Rather then spending the money on new hoses, it am thinking of priming them and then spraying over them... will the paint stick?

i wouldnt have thought it will stick mate, the silicone has too higher gloss finish and its very hard to key the surface and getting a flexible paint that would adhear to it would be ****** hard!! could you not cover them in electrical tape? easy fix! is it the same engine as in the a4 1.8t? i have a 1.8t quattro, fancy doing a px on the pipes?

it might, but its not likely to stay there for long.

The pipes will expand and contract as they are exposed to thermal cycling, and will swell a little when under pressure, so the paint will soon crack up and start flaking off imo.

Why not get the black pipes, and flog the blue ones in classefieds or on ebay?

I think electrical tapes will melt under high temp. Maybe i can get the heat resistant ones. Its a different engine to the A4 mate...
