Hi All,

Where can I find the MPG figures quoted for the Audi A3 8P 2.0 TDI DSG both 140 bhp and 170 bhp? The PD version, like a 2005 or 2006 (facelift).

I would like to know if the difference between the two is too big to justify the 170 bhp?

Also would a 140 bhp remapped to 170+ bhp give me more MPG than a standard 170 bhp model? (Assume that the driving style remains constant)

What is the best way mechanically to increase MPG, but still have the power of the 2.0 TDI, rather than the 1.9 TDI.

Thanks!

you could try parkers guide for the performance figures mpg etc.. from what ive seen on there tho the 140 does around 50 mpg and the 170 does around 48 mpg but no idea what they actually do in the real world prob not a massive difference i wouldnt think , as for increasing the mpg change gear earlyer dont be heavy on the pedals make sure the tyre pressures are right drive with the aircon off or on econ there are lots of ways to increase mpg parkers say for my own car a 1.6fsi petrol i should get around 42 where in the real world i get 50 plus as i change gear under 2000rpm and driving with the aircon off as i said in the above things

i've seen my mate BOOT his TDI 140 and the trip computer was telling him he was still getting 35mpg. i don't think fuel economy is gonna be an issue.

There have been load of threads about people with the 170 TDi particularly the quattro not getting much above 38 MPG or so. Having had both in the family at one point, none quattro 140 but quattro 170, a remapped 140 is the nicer drive but struggle to get grip in the wet and I averaged 53 MPG all the time I had it. My mums 170 averaged 43.4 on the DIS.

Thanks for the replies chaps.

Ah yes parkers! Ok for the 140 bhp DSG they state 48 mpg, and for 2.0 TDI (170bhp) 3d S-Tronic 47 mpg..do these figures sound realistic? Not much difference on paper, but I have read many threads on here about the 170 as biggiep stated, where mpg has been awful.

I have driven the 1.9 TDI A3 and was very impressed with it, I currently drive a 1.4 Lupo!

Would I be right in saying that the 140 bhp is economical but fun when you want it to be?

Thanks

You would be dead right in saying that !

Mine's a 2006 manual 140 and is good fun to drive if you are in that mood.

Otherwise, pottering about shopping etc. it does 48mpg. On a run keeping under 80 it has done 55mpg.

Definitely quicker than the 1.9 but not as economical obviously.
