I have all the bits to fit cruise control bar the steering wheel control module. The dealer says they are £150.

No sign of them on e-bay.

So its just the lower steering trim, cruise stalk , one yellow wire. Oh and I have the right hand stalk for DIS.

the lower steering cowl isnt really needed, very easy to trim your excisting one.
why the yellow wire ??? what years your car ?
dont forget youll need vagcom to code it .
have a look on german ebay for a module !!!
do you have any plans on fitting a multi function wheel anytime, if you do, make sure you get the correct module that works with both.
a Q module is a safe bet

the yellow wire i presume is to ground the pin in the clock cluster for the washer bottle sensor, i think from memory it is yellow in the multi plug, but lee you know far more than me about electrics, i just like to pick your brains and then have a go myself as it's not normaly too dificult just a confidence thing. By the way i'm still trying to source the module to do my keys but the reverse camera is on order just not looking foward to removing all the trim to run cables from the rear to the front.

lmao matty, the front to the back is pretty straight forward for you !!! the cabbys have a rear bulkhead !!!! a pita i tell ya !! youll have more fun running your cables from the car to the boot matey, through that lovely grooved rubber !!!!
cant believe you aint got a module yet for the key upgrade .
i see in your sig list you also want to do puddle lights , just done mine mate, reaaaaaaalllllllly easy job mate, cheap too, looks great.

I need one more red light to complete the footwell ambient lighting although i did add a red led tonight to the little pocket type thing just to the right lower of the steering wheel ( don't know why realy, but hey why do we do alot of the things we do!!) and i need one more white light to do the puddle lights ( i bought 3 of each off the bay awile ago, don't quite know how he only had three he must have lost a door at some point ) but i do NEED the key module but as usual when you want one!! you just sit by you phone cause when i get one it will sure ring.

I do keep wondering what if i trim the circuit board from my old key to fit the new one.

I might just buy a new module. I bought a new right hand stalk for DIS. So your telling me I'm better ordering a Q module if I go for a multifunction wheel with the cruise. Do I ditch the new DIS stalk then so a multifunction wheel works DIS??

Also can multifunction be got in 3 spoke to suit my airbag?

I'm handy with VCDS. I upgraded my womans mk5 with highline clocks, cruise and a multifunction wheel.

youll still need the stalk for DIS rob !
and yeh, the Q module will cope with both mate

Sorry, only getting back to this now. But what would the multifunction wheel control then if I still need my right DIS stalk?

Also the b6 and b7 steering wheels - They are different right?

if you want b6 mfsw, they only come in the 4 spoke wheel and only controls the radio and phone, the stalk controls the trip computer.

if you want a b7 mfsw, then you'll need a b7 slip ring, airbag loom, airbag and there's some choice in steering wheel design(think some or the tt wheels fit aswell if you want a flat bottom one) but there's been plenty of discussions because the airbag as its different, it's a at your own risk kinda thing.

here's some part numbers to get you started(parts below to fit a b7 s4 mfsw with cruise and dis):

for b6 wheel:
Control Module - 8E0-953-549-Q or R

additional parts for b7 wheel:
S/C Ring - 4E0-953-541-A or B
Airbag Wiring Harness - 4F0 971 589 A

I bit the bullet and ordered the R control module. Dealer said Q isn't made anymore.

I ordered the stalk a few weeks ago. It was on it own. Should I have got a black wire with it? Yea the yellow wire was to ground the washer bottle

So I'm up my R control module tomorrow. So that yellow wire I ordered is to ground the pin in the cluster if I'm not fitting the low washer fluid? Should I have gotten another wire in the kit to fit cruise control. I ordered the stalk on its own. I didn't order cruise as a kit

I haven't seen a good guide yet with pictures on how to do it. A i've said, I have fitted cruise too A mk5 golf and new highline clocks. I just need a good guide with pics on how to do it to the a4. I have full VCDS.

Cheers

Ok I've found an old guide that Nickynibbles post up a good while back. Its the only picture guide i've found. Doesn't have the bit in it where for running the washer bottle sensor to the clocks or if I don't want it, how to stop in coming up on the DIS

Here is it http://www.audi-sport.net/vb/general-chat/52037-cruise-control-parts-arrived.html

If anybody has a better guide with pics, please post it up

[FONT=&quot]Just checked the A4/B6 circuits for the washer fluid sensor and it goes back to the instrument panel Connector "T32/1" (Connector colour: Blue, 32-pin, Pin #1) - so ground this to get rid of the DIS washer fluid level warning if you are not fitting the sensor.

Cheers Woorlord, I ordered the washer sensor anyway yesterday because I didn't know I had to buy 2 9p screws for the cruise stalk.

Any idea on what type of wire/wires to run for the washer? Are they repair wires and where do they go?

Diagrams indicate the Washer sensor wires are 0.5mm2 (Engine bay) / 0.35mm2 (Earth side) / 0.22mm2 (into instrument connector).
The repair wires are normally 300mm~400mm end to end with the relevant connector at the each end - cut it in the middle and your left with a 150~200mm wire - get yourself down to Maplins and get a real of wire of around 0.5mm2 some heatshrink and do some in-line soldering - all sorted.
For cable routing follow my contributions to Headlight Washers Retrofitting - wires run near enough the same route.
Earth post in the A-pillar footwell.

Have emailed you the relevant circuit diagram for reference.

Cheers, this is what I have so far

I'm just doing the cruise control for the minute so not changing the steering wheel until I get the outside of the car done like wheels and coilovers.

Steering wheels seem to be be very expensive it seems
