8P Front end conversion - does anyone have the parts or can assist?

Hi

I have a Audi A3 2lt TDI Sport 2004 with the split grill and wish to change the front end to the single grill. I know the parts required consist of a new bumper, single grill & the reinforcement bar.

Is there anything else that I might be missing?

Does anybody have the parts for sale perhaps or can get them in from somewhere? This is one change I really want to make to the car.

Any assistance would be helpful

What style are you changing to ?
Sport, s line or s3?

I have a single grill front bumper available, but it is the sport style.

Imho, if you are doing the change, I would go sline or s3. Much better look than the standard big grill style

All depends on what style your after as there a few guys on here that are selling sports bumpers.
Try ebay or a breaker if your looking for parts mind cheaper than buying brand new at times. But i doubt very much any of the guys will have s-line or s3 bumpers/bonnets laying around. Also need a new bonnet to do the conversion

TBH just the normal style, I guess thats the sport. My A3 is a Sport so this would do. Just want to keep it plain&simple, not keen on S Line or S3 front although they do look better.

The sports bumper would be my choice, I want to keep it simple as possible. Having difficulties sourcing a bumper with the grill. Have seen a bumper on ebay and also a seperate grill but dont know if the both would fit together. I have read some stories of grills not fitting to certain bumpers etc due to being different part no's & year etc?

You will also need a new bonnet and also you dont need a new reinforcement bar unless you are putting a S3 bumper on and even then it can be trimmed with a saw

Any chance you can give me the item number cant go on ebay in work blocked have to go on my phone. You need a bumper from late 2005 - early 2008 same for the grill. Any A3 grill between those times will fit even the s-line one. As all the same sizes, you can also fit an S3 grill but its shorter than the A3 grills so have to glue it in place.

Hi no problem. I'm not too sure to be honest. The fog light surrounds wont fit that bumper on ebay. Im sure some of the other guys will confirm if your fog lights and surround will fit a 2006 + sports bumper.
That grill for the newer a3 2009 onwards so wont fit. Front bumper fine and looks like its an s-line one aswell not a sport one, so bonus. If you get that bumper might aswell pm Smoothie and get his s-line grill as it goes with the bumper. So you will have the s-line front conversion instead of the sport.

Cheers mate. yeah mine will be off the car in the next two weeks evough time to get the bits you need. i have got the fogs and surrounds aswell if needed ( but no grill) i am sure finally got an a3 has a bonnet as well

Does anyone know if the fog lights are the same for both the Sport and S-Line 05-08 bumper? Trying to source all the parts to do a single grille conversion and i'm unsure of this. I'm guessing the fog lights on my current 2004 sport bumper wont fit? Any advice would be much appreciated

Thanks for letting me know. Will the guy who's doing the work (panel beater/fitter) be able to change the plugs or should an auto electrician do it? Basically is it quite simple? silly questions I know but wouldn't want the car going for the work and being told he cant do it until something is done. Must say, your car looks amazing! think i'll go for the black grille myself

Cheers Sarah, i'll do that myself. Did you also do the front end conversion? What percentage are the tints on yours? I want something light enough that I can do all the windows. Think it looks pretty sh*t with just the back ones done

Yeah I did it all myself in the summer. Took an age to get the parts but did it in the end.

No idea on the tints tbh, they were done when I bought the car. When I had my A6 done I had all done but had the fronts done a shade lighter and it looked good. I prefer the backs very dark but not the darkest. I think the fronts look better done too otherwise the contrast is too harsh I think! Just my thoughts.

Dont think i'll be taking it to quite the same extremes as you guys, as good as your cars do look! lol. Just be happy with the front end done. Im in 2 minds whether to keep the graphite RS6 wheels on or put on the 20" Giovanna chrome turbine blade wheels I have. Think the graphite suits the akoya silver. As for parts... have you's bought them new or sourced them off the forum?

i bought new mainly didnt want to fund thieves, as for the 20 dont they will ruin an a3, ruined safs car

Was a bit concerned they wouldn't look right. Bought the 20's off my mate who had bought them for his A4 but he kept them when he sold it. A year old and I got them off him for £250 so couldn't resist at that price! Think one tyre costs that much!

could sell them I guess and fund my conversion!
