Hi,

Sorry I was in but I got no reply when I posted on the thread, Thought I was too late and order the BSH catch can.
I should have waited.

Sorry dude, my fault i should of told you that we hadn't ordered anthing yet.

Let me know how you get on with the BSH one off ebay, i was originally gonna get this but got scared off by it being vented, i don't like MOT's as it is!!!

Ok i'll get Mr Saikou to quote us for 4 and i'll pm Ollie to see what he had to pay for local postage

S3tle, i doubt waiting a few days will make much difference mate, see if we can get anymore interest.....

So... whos buying which ones?
I keep looking for one but missd the first group buy

going to be the Saikou with the looks of things Paul..... £66-£77 depending on ex rate

you know i've been told before that i'm impatient, i don't believe it myself!!! yep lets leave it a few days!!!

As Animal said gonna be Saikou

Got the pipes and clips today, so i deleted the PCV and redid the oil pipes as mine had degraded so badly i didn't want to refit them.

The 19mm pipe from ebay is very chunky!! but it is also very tiight over the hockey puck valve and cam cover breather. I used 17-25mm Highgrip clips which were close but fit well. I used 14-22mm for the PCV delete.

Annoyingly it did help my rough idle :-(

Anyway few pics, it's gonna be tight!!! the pipes don't touch, just look close in photo

Did you get the hosequip kit off ebay, did it come with clips or did you need to order them seperately?

Yep it's the ebay kit, plenty of hose, you can actually do it slightly cheaper (maybe £3) buying the hose and joiners seperately, i didn't bother as wanted it in one delivery.

Clips were seperate, i bought them from here JCS HI-GRIP HOSE CLIPS

got 10 x 17-25mm for breather pipes - i removed all oem pipe apart from the bottom 90 degree pipe, but it does also need replacing.
and 3 x 14-22mm for brake booster
and 2 x 9-12mm for manifold block

All very easy, under an hour, but then i haven't fitted a catch can yet!!

Thanks s3tle, Just looking into sorting out all pipe and clips ready to do this.

Next question then, what size hose do you need for the brake servo hose that comes off the side of the manifold and does it need to be R6 hose or is ordinary silicone hose ok?

I cant rememeber what size it is because I reused mine as I was fed up by that point and couldn't be bothered to trace all the hose. I just cut the original hose, slapped in the 1 way valve and blocked of the T section with a bolt.

One day I'll replace it properly and get a 1 way valve with just and in and out. Let us know how you get on with it all mate.

Will do. Want the 2 port one way valve as well but not going to pay stupid money for one!

Just collecting bits for when the we do the mini group buy on the catch can. Going to get one of the autobahn TIP's as still have the OEM one on at the moment and fit at the same time. Will try and take pics as going along but defo once finished.

i'm also not sure on the brake servo pipe size, i used part of a pipe i removed from my octavias brake servo pipe, thats also where i got the check valve from.

To block the under manifold port i reused the old pipe with a 8mm stop

Total cost for 4 cans is gonna be $390, + local postage + possible custom charge

well done animal, i had left the page open for ages before replying

Been thinking guys, would it not be better to get a catch can that is vented instead on going back into the TIP, wouldnt that then stop any unwanted gases been drawn back into the system? It's just a though as ive seen a few of the lcr boys block off the tip and just run a hose from the pipe that returns to the oil filter hosuing to the catch can and a pipe from the rocker cover to the catch can.

What you guys think?

Not sure but wouldn't a vented to atmosphere can be in violation of emissions regulations come MOT time?

Seeing as we have so many sensors in the engine area wouldnt the sudden "loss" of air in the system mess up all the values so the ecu is going to "compensate" for the loss of air, eg go into limp mode as it thinks theres a boost leak.

Could be talking b*llocks tho! lol

Brake vacuum pipe is 1/2" dia according to the link from UKMKIV's.
Pat who did the write up mentions using a 1/2" piece of nylon rod to block the port (that is what your asking isn't it or should I go back to sleep?

"I'm also wanting to cap the brake booster line and just use the 1 vac source for brakes. It works on the AGU and ARZ so no reason it shouldn't work on an AUM right? I used a 1/2" piece of nylon rod and a jubilee clip but have since replaced this section of the brake booster line. Picture of revised piece to be edited in later"

Just been re-reading this and the link to the uk-mkvs link too, my head hurts now :faint:

Cant see why it'd fail the MOT on emissions.

Hey i may be wrong too but i just thought it would be a better idea then crank case gases etc been sucked back into the intake, i'm sure bill or paul or mark will know, haha.

as i understand it, a vented will of course prevent any oily vapours from entering the tip, which is best but the trade off is the fumes are vented under the engine, so it will smell, make things around it oily from the vapour and possiblly be a issue if the MOT tester spots it.

I think it's a trade off really between whats 'best' for the tip and whats 'best' in general. You could use the same Saikou can ad just add a vent to outlet rather than returning to the tip, then if it's a problem just change the vent for a pipe to the tip?

this is just how i understand it, DOESN'T mean it right!!!

EDIT; doesn't rather than does!!!

I think the MOT issue is because you'd be venting the vapour with out it going via cat's etc...? so more a problem if it's spotted rather than the emissions?

My mate couldn't even be bothered with a catch can on his old car and just let the oil drip onto the road!

WTF, thats just lazy, bet you loved it when he came round your house, not!

Well he used to have a can but it never ever filled up so he thought he'd do away with it and just ran a pipe to the bottom of his engine bay. Anything that would drip out would probably come out on the road while he's going along. It was well lazy though.

yup i read a few threads about venting to the engine bay, the major issue was the terrible smell it created in and out of the cabin....all ones ive read ended up connecting it all back up again.........

Hey , any more interest in this? if not shall we get the cans ordered?

S3tle

Thorsy22

Dani_19 are you in on this?

Cheers Chris

When will we be ordering, and what can we decided on, the Saikou one?

Yep Saikou, well if you want one but need to wait a week or something i don't mind waiting

I've set aside the money so if you need some more time to get the money Dani I can wait too.

BIG word of warning fellas. Make sure you secure the bung for the extra outlet on the one way valve that gets re-used! As I pulled into my work car park today I heard a loud thud like a stone flicking up into the engine bay, as I tried to slow down to park I noticed I no longer had servo'd breaks! The thud was the bung shooting out.

It was extrememly lucky that I was only doing 15mph in a carpark and not gunning it down a main road like I was 5 mins before! Change of pants time now and I think I'll try and source a 2 channeled one way valve.

Lucky escape there Westle!
Let us know how you get on sourcing a two port one as defo want to get one!
How are your fish tank t-piece and 90degree elbow holding up?

I think Ollie mentioned that the dealers dont sell the one way valve by themselves only as part of the rest of the hose system so I think it'll have to be from a scrap yard which is a pain.

Haha I'd forgotten about those bits, they are holding up just fine.

Sweet, I went a similar route so glad they're holding up ok. Got 2m of 19mm r6 hose and the t-piece and 90degree elbow for about £14 all in, just jubilee clips and catch can tank now, oh and the tip to arrive its out of stock atm :-(
