Needing some new tyres all round because a) the garage I bought the car from fitted budgets to the front, and b) the rears are nearly on their limit.

Had enough of the car being unpredictable when driven hard, so what do you call recommend? I used to swear by Micheline PE2s on my old Clio 182 and they lasted ages...

They're to go onto standard 2004 17" Sport alloys.

Pirelli P Zero Rosso on my S Line and i think they make the car that little bit better! I'll be buying them again

I agree with Rigla, P Zero Rosso 225/45 ZR 17 91W are fitted all round, and doing really well.

pilot sport 3's had 4 put on mine a short while ago fantastic tyre great grip in both wet and dry conditions
had pilot sport 2's on before and the new 3's are streets ahead of them!
camskill were by far the cheapest supplier

P-Zero Rossos are dire. I took them off my A3 before they even had 4k miles on them they were that rubbish (I would even say they were dangerous in the wet). They didn't grip anywhere near as well as the Goodyear eagle F1 gsd3s I had on my T4 and they were only 205/50-16s. Anyway replaced the Rossos with F1s and they transformed the car although they have now been replaced by Goodyear with Eagle F1 Assymetrics in larger diameter sizes.

My BMW is now running Continental Sportcontact 3s which are really good in both the wet and dry but seem to have worn out the rears in under 11k. I had Goodyear NCT5s on before and they were pretty good although not offering quite the same grip as the Contis lasted nearly twice as long (still far more sure footed than the Rossos were).

Running these on the S3 have used the older pattern tyre that these replaced also and have to say they have been great

Agree with the above. Got them on all four at the moment. Cant fault them.

Used these on my previous car and loved them too.

Thanks all. Interesting how nobody has mentioned the Michelin PE2, is this because they're so expensive or because there are better for the money? Local tyre place swears by Khumo, but haven't really heard much about them.

Quite possibly because Pilot Exalto PE2s only go up to 215 width and a max diameter of 18". Most sports A3s come with 225 tyres, the market segment they are aimed at is the smaller sports car and roadster. Pilot sport 3 would be the sort of tyre aimed more at the sporty A/S3 and upwards.

Khumo do some ok tyres depends on your budget really as to whats best for you (there are some reviews of Khumos in the link I posted). They are a budget brand and as such don't offer the same level of high performance tyres as some of the premium brands top tyres.

I've got the Goodyear Eagle F1's on, can't fault them but then again it's only 2.0TDI and I don't drive hard
