OK never owned an Audi before. Had a few VW's , but this is my first Audi.
I have placed an order for a A3 Sportback 2.0 TDI 170 Quattro sport in white. I had a look at the new VW , which was nice . However , there was a much better deal to be had at Audi. In the end I got the Audi for a few thousand cheaper than I could get an equivalent Golf , plus I could get the Quattro.

I suspect Audi are now prepared to deal on A3's as I have heard the new A3 comes out mid 2011 and the sportback due 2012. The Mk6 Golf being still fairly new it is harder to get a deal.

Whilst not a GTI I think the 170 diesel with Quattro might be some fun, but won't break the bank.
I am told by the dealer mine will be a 2011 model with some extra chrome bits and bobs.

A question to all you diesel forumites. This is my first diesel and the missus will drive it more than me , but I am concerned that we may put petrol in by mistake. I see there are a number of products out there to stop you doing this. Does anyone have any experience of them so I can work out which is best..

Thks . When I get it (early Nov) will see if I can post some pics..:yum:

Hi :sign_welcome: to the forum.
Just keep chanting 'diesel' 'diesel' 'diesel' 'diesel' 'diesel' 'diesel' 'diesel' 'diesel' 'diesel' 'diesel' 'diesel' 'diesel' 'diesel' 'diesel' 'diesel' 'diesel' 'diesel' 'diesel' 'diesel' 'diesel' 'diesel' and be extra careful when you are about to put the diesel in. lol. :jump:

Enjoy!!

Yep , but when the wife puts petrol in it , it will be my fault !! I know it sounds like a stupid thing thing to do , but my friend who is a very techy person did the same thing only a week after picking up his new ford ( serves him right for buying a ford  , but lucky that Ford have a device that stopped him putting diesel in.
I see on the web that Audi will do this for 2011 models of A4 up , but for some reason they are missing the A3 and A1 :(

Anyway thanks for the welcome and any experience from other forumites welcome as £29.99 seems a small price to pay for not screwing up the engine..

Hiya and welcome. Good choice of car and you will love the quattro!!!

Well maybe a huge 'Diesel' sticker under the filler cap may help and make her wear black gloves! Seriously, the first few fills are the worry ones, after that she will be fine!

Good luck!

can buy these speakers when you open the petrol cap a voice clip[ just says diesal.would recomend it lol

Yes right.. Think the missus would kill me if I did that ! I know it sounds like a daft question , but apparently 150,000 people do it every year in the UK. Having spent over 20 K on a car £30 seems a small price .
