Chrome Tailpipe Covers for downwards TDI pipes?

Yeah, I took the inserts out and just slid them over the standard droopy pipes. One pipe only has 2 screws though, as I couldn't screw the 3rd in unless my car was on a ramp - was too difficult to get to!. They seem secure though, pleased with the result.

I could only use 2 bolts in 1 of the trims as well, the missing bolt was too close to the other :)

Would these chrome pipes fit an diesel audi 1.9 TDI? 57plate

Actually i would say it looks OEM, the Audi ones i got looks pretty much the same except instead of bolts i have allen screws

They're definitely the same mate. The pics look the exact same as the ones I received.

yep sorry your right

looking to close into things. i know its 15ish days but how long was yours?

They look like a much better item than the OEM ones, which I think really are supposed to be fitted on straight pipes, like the DPF models.

The ebay pipes look a bit longer which is helpful.

UPDATE

I ordered the Chinese tailpipes & they arrived yesterday. I decided that the brackets & bolts that come with them should go in the bin.
I found some other bolts for the 2 top fittings of each pipe & cut them down so they did,nt stick out.
They slide right over the endcaps without any mither. Underneath the pipe i drilled using a cobalt drill bit as the pipes are hard. I then used an orbix self tapper to firmly hold them in place, they are not coming off.
I did stick them out a little as i preferred it like that. They dont look too in yer face & you cannot see the original end caps at all.
Overall an excellent mod for a fiver, They even remind me of the Milltek end caps that were on my A6 estate.
I would love to post some pics but i cant...I,m not allowed

hi gee, is this the correct item on ebay? 170529386820

Mine didn't have a cover on them to begin with, so you don't need to remove anything mate. Just slot the new ones over the old ones :)

I have an A6 2.0TDi with a single downward pipe exhaust on either side. So, after reading this thread I'm guessing I dont need to cut the downpipe? So, anyone recommend a suitable single tailpipe cover?

As an alternative, what do you guys think of something like this:

70MM CHROME EXHAUST TRIM/TAILPIPE MOTORHOME/CAMPER VAN on eBay (end time 24-Sep-10 11:03:31 BST)

Its basically a cover modified to fit downward pipes, allowing fumes to exit as normal but giving the appearance of a straight exhaust. Personally, not for me as I think it will be a mission to get straight and will look bad from sides/close-up.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers.
