Guys/Gals,

My BBS Calito alloys are in a pretty bad way now (laquer peeling etc..) so am thinking of getting them refurbed.

I have toyed with the idea of new wheels but have probably decided that getting a £1500 set of alloys back to new condition is a better outlay.

I am also toying with the idea of having a different finish applied to them when refurbing them and the ones that take my fancy currently are Black or Smoked chrome.

Just wondering of the general opinions on here and other suggestions, they are on a black A3

Nice One!

Nice wheels you have there bro... your in the same boat as me ... you should go dark as would look better on a dark car such as yours.. as for me I am doing mine in pearlescent white....id def drop her a bit before hand though is that your plan?..

If i'm honest I am not planning on dropping her at all (think i'm getting old or something) but I like the way she handles and the fact I can negotiate bumps etc...

I was thinking of something dark but not entirely sure I would like it!

Do you have the same wheels then? BBS split rims? Where are you getting yours refurbed?

if you hold off for a few weeks i think ive got just the finish for against the black, ive got it done just not fitted yet as im still facelifting the car

I am going the whole hog I think, not really any point in doing it cheaply if I decide to, will only come back and cause me problems later on!
I am thinking of using a company called Lepsons as have been recommended them and they also get good reviews on here! Been quoted the same as you (£500ish for the 4) but also lose my car for a week!

Is your place more local?

Yeh they have quoted 3/4 days but will give you a car for just a tenner a day during that time which I thought was a ****** good price... just trying to dig out the email and then will PM you fella.....

Out of interest, what are these (calitos) worth on the second hand market in need of a refurb? Possibly with 4 'newish' rubbish tyres?

Was quoted from audi new over 2k then I saw a few second hand sets going around the 6-700 mark but honestly not too sure... Im going to get these done and have them as my winters and Im on the look out for some 19' bentleys once I have the money:drool:

Fair enough, dont think I will be selling them but has crossed my mind and to get a set of VMR V710's but I like these and they seem pretty rare so want to get them back to new!!

If you could dig out the e-mail / name of that company and PM me would be great!

Mate thinking of getting mine re-done as well. I have visited a company called Lepsons they have two branches one in Gillingham Kent the other in Swindon. Going on the wheels I saw there I will be using them check out their web site. They also advised me on a colour which you may like for yours called passcara paint see the image below

Not silver but a dark chrome grey colour.
They quoted if I got all 4 wheels done £65+VAT each, for 4 is a total price of £ 305.50 Inc VAT.

Hope that helps??

Tom

WOW thats cheap as chips .. thats gotta be just a kind of mobile facia refurb job rather than acid stripping and blasting back to the bare , splitting the rims etc and starting again?... id rather spend the 500 and know that its a job well done... but thats just me... :p

No that is the full acid strip and re powder coat from Lepsons, mine arn't the same wheels as yours they are the standard bbs audi ones not split rims they are like the ones in the picture.

Take yours down to Lepsons or go on their web site lepsons.co.ukor call them probably one of the best in the country and all very friendly couldn't do enough to help and make sure I picked the right colour for wheel and vehicle.

Worth keeping an eye out on ebay as there are a few sets of Calito's coming to the market as New Old Stock - I've just bought a set of 5 brand new & unusued for £500 (plus they were the A6 destined ones - so 8 x 18 & a slightly lower 48mm offset :) )

EDIT:

Looks like there's an A6 set onthere at the moment for £600 or best offer - at least this is guaranteed to be the factory finish (whether that's a good thing or not......) - you'll also have a spare winter set then!
