Hi

I get an odd rumble from my 57 plate (ie just in warranty!) A3 Quattro, it sounds a bit like touching the rumble strips at the side of the road and last about quarter of a second. It doesn't do it whilst stationary, or when accelerating under load, just when you back off the throttle or change gear. My nearest Audi dealers about 60 miles away so just wondered if anyone had any ideas (as they don't!) before I waste £25 on fuel taking it there! Cars done just over 30k, they thought it may be down to the Haldex oil needing changing, but thats 10k away?

Ta!

Dave

I have read on here that the Haldex oil is recommended to be changed at 20k miles but my Audi dealer told me 40k miles so don't know which is right!!!
I get a rumble on mine and you can feel it through the gear stick when coasting from 50mph to a slow stop and it goes when load is applied again i.e you accelerate. It's always done it from new....

I'm pretty sure it's done it from new, it's just I noticed it on a motorway trip (don't do many!) and it's bugging me now - especially as the warranty's up soon lol.

Had a techie come out for a drive the other day.... it's booked in for the rear diff/Haldex to be looked at! I'd get yours checked if it's still under warranty.

Have you checked this part: golf/JLR/rear
Etka says it is: Jointed coupling with balance weight 1k0 521 307

Many of VW 4motion owners in Finland have this broken. You can see "fractures" between metal circle and rubber.

Why is it breaks down?

My 06 golf tdi 4motion has this issue, Just had a look at the 1k0 521 307 as mentioned by tos and it looks just the same. I wonder if it's a DIY or not?

Sorry for bumping so old thread but I'm experiencing same issue what makes me really mad while I'm driving my car.
Tos, could you be a little bit more specific?
My jointed coupling looks exacly same as yours, lot of "fractures" - if I have them do I need to replace the jointed coupling?
