I have a 2.0 tdi 140bhp. When driving to work which is mostly motorway traveling at 70mph im getting around 44mpg. Lowest i've seen is 27mpg but on an average im getting around 38mpg. This seems a bit low, my last car did 45mpg average. Anyone have similar MPG or is this low?

Sounds low to me. I also have a 140 tdi and do a motorway commute and generally average 50 to 60 mpg. I have not reset the overall reading on the computer since I've had the car (approx 1 year) and it's on 54.

Are you positive it's a 140 as it sounds more like the figures from a 170? The give away is the 140's have twin exhausts on the left whereas the 170's have 2 exhausts, 1 either side.

See this thread for my best mpg:

i have a 2lt tdi cab i do m-way i put £30 and only get about 230 miles witch i thought was rubbish but never mind its hot lol

Yeah its a 140. Stu are you getting the mpg from readings? Or have you worked it out yourself? i worked mine out and i've never seen better than 45mpg

I've not worked it out but get 800 miles from a tank which I'm fairly happy with. I had a 1.8T before (190bhp) which was about 1/3 worse on fuel i.e. 30 mpg in that would be 45+ in the tdi and it doesn't feel that much slower in every day driving due to the extra torque.

Around £80 for 800 miles if run really low.

Therefore say diesel is around £1.22 a litre then £80 buys around 65.5 litres (14.4 gallons) so 800/14.4 = 55 mpg which is pretty much spot on what the dis says.

Like I mentioned it's done an overall 54 ave since I've owned it but I do mainly do motorway miles which are more economical.

mine is temperamental. like on the last run i got 200 miles to £20. now i've just put another £20 in and its saying i've got 175 miles left? this is doing the same journeys as i always do.

Got 420 miles from £50!!! is that good or bad..on my 1.9TDi

i know maq im not sure if mines good or bad my audi is the 2lt tdi 140. ive thought about getting a remap i had a a3 with a remap and i got300 miles to £30 i know the cab is heavier and bigger

I HAVE A4 140 TDI ALWAYS DO A BRIM TO BRIM MEASUREMENT I NOW GET 42-44MPG BUT WAS GETTING BETEEN 37-39MPG WHEN I GOT THE CAR FIRST UP UNTIL IT HAD APROX 35-40000MLS ON IT, DID'NT FIND ANY DIFFERENCE WHEN IT WAS REMAPED

I have the 140 avant and at 60-65mph I have calculated I get 55MPG. The dis goes upto 70mpg but that's a load of rubbish. Take it easy with the throttle and I'm sure you'll get the same from a saloon!!

I also have an 05 140 Avant that returns typically 55mpg at circa 70.
That said I have a colleague with an 06 140 Avant who is not at all happy with his mpg and he claims he doesn't get more than 42mpg

42?! Are his tyres flat or something? I get 42 if I drive around like a takeaway delivery driver pretending I'm in a Pug! Driving hard, but well, I get 44-45 easy.

I get about 300 miles for the 75 quid to fill up, but then thats an S4, lol. My 2.0TDI is about 500 miles to the tank, 50l tank, so about right I think. Mid to high 40's. But then thats in an A3 with lead boots on.
