Hi!!

Just bought a 2003 S4 avant 60k FASH, drove 400 miles and was loving it, now I have a vibration that came on after a high speed run, the garage I have it in can't corner the problem :(

Any suggestions for a specialist in the South who is familiar with the Dualmass problem? thinking it may be this :(

Storm Developments have always been good for me.

Where about in the south are you? on my last audi when the flywheel started to go it would only judder when pulling away. Does it always judder or is it just at speed?

thanks guys, car is with garage who have confirmed dual mass fly, but £1600? does that seem about right? have contacted storm dev for a price as well :(

In and around Bournemouth area...

I've always heard good things about Kartechnics in Poole, but dsmclarks recent experiences would make me a bit hesitant in recommending them. Autotechnics in Gillingham are very good.

Oh just noticed :sign_welcome: to Audi-sport! Where did you buy it from? was it private or trade?

Is that parts and labour? is so that's probably not far off as the dual mass flywheels aren't cheap. ask for a breakdown. You thought of changing to a single mass? JH Motorsport in the US do a clutch and flywheel kit that is what I would consider if I were in your shoes Click

What, no warranty?

ECS Do a aluminium fly kit too, and that would rev like a motorbike :D

dsm - yep, parts and labour inc vat

bought private, 300 miles later..... :(

are non original parts advisable? am getting a quote of £1250 elsewhere all in

That sucks, mine didn't last about that after I bought it and a timing tensioner broke. Luckily I had warranty to cover the cost

problem with non genuine parts is that it could go again not long after and then you would have to get it done again.
Was that quote with clutch being changed as well? how much did they quote just for parts?

ended up at kartechnics, LUK parts are being used so original back door audi, no? 12mth guarantee on parts and labour but hoping to not need it ;)

clutch is an addition if it is needed, we suspect a new one was fitted not so long ago and if not contaminted, should be ok.

thanks Sam, all done and dusted now and back home, Kartechnics were great and very competitive on price, i understand you've had a bit of a run in with them so cant comment on that but they really did help me out so have to give them a shout.

Glad it worked out well for you . They are nice guys, but it was just silly things like they overfilled the oil by 2 litres, missed off a hose clip on a vacuum line, used a screw to blank off a line and told me the car was running fine when it wasn't (turned out it had a spilt hose) and then got a bit funny and cagey with me. They were probably ****** off as they had to take the engine out again at their expense which is quiet labour intensive. I was just unfortunate and my car was probably just a one off...

How much did it cost you in the end? you've made me paranoid now about my flywheel/clutch as my clutch pedal feels funny and thrust bearing a little noisy

£1500 inc vat.

seem to have some under trays missing this morning and I'm sure they were there before

Same thing happened to me! but I wasn't 100% I had them before it went in as I didn't look under there. They might have forgot to put them back on

sorry for long reply...

to be fair it appears they were not on the car when I purchased, just never noticed when I inspected.

Car has not missed a beat since the initial drama :) thanks for your help on the matter ;)
