right just got the car back from the body shop and managed to get the guy to fit me a cupra front splitter. FOC,!!!!
well,, not quite,, ive got to fit him a new kitchen mixer tap for nowt:rolleyes:
i got him to mount it as far forward as possible and i cant believe how cool it looks!!!!!
but it would look even cooler with ice white,, or ice blue lights on it,, so,,
if any of you would be so kind as to send me a few links for some half decent hid kits with slim line ballasts,ive looked on fleebay and theres thousands,, i ant got a clue what the ratings mean or if any of the kits are any good!, id also like some good quality led bulbs for the side lights and number plate lights, if you could point me in the right direction that would be fantastic,,, also,,are there any i can get for the bumper spotlights too!!!!

4300k is the rating that oem xenon lights are, and what I would go for - but some people prefer the bluer tinge of 6000k. I can't recommend you a specific set, other than H7 fitment.

Blue LED sidelights look naff imo - I can recommend these 15 LEDs or these 25 LEDs - pricey but very effective and no error codes.

Number plate LED's have been linked to numerous times, but the ones I'm aware of are NLA so you'll need someone else to recommend them.

I put Nighbreakers in my fogs, but you could HID them if you feel it's worth it (I didn't) and the yellow halogen tinge is better in fog than bright white which just reflects.
 
right,, so its h7's for the headlights and h11 for the fogs?

and the rating ie 5000, 6000, 7000, does this mean the higher the number, the bluer the tinge???
 
This is what i've been looking at Linky as they have the proper metal base and ceramic insulation. I'll buy them when i can be botherd.
The last kit i bought had a plastic base that was virtually impossible to install.

i just fitted some 6000k hids on friday, they wernt slimline ballasts and a beeeatch to fit but am over the moon with them! the MOT is due in a couple of weeks too so fingers crossed its ok! i am also looking for some led sidelights as the standard ones look naff now.

Ooooh lights, my favourite subject....

Personally, OEM Bi-Xenons are well worth the money. Grey housings, proper projectors, perfect. I personally like 6000k rated lights, but 4300k are OEM. When you look at 4300k on there own, they are quite white, but put them next to 6000k and they look very yellow. Check eBay, they do come up but are very expensive. And if you need a new ballast (like I did) it adds quite a lot. Also if you go the OEM route, if your upgrading from halogens, you need to buy a harness from Kufatec. Not too expensive, and then its simple plug and play.

If you want to go aftermarket, there isn't much difference between all the manufacturers out there. Normally have the choice between 35w and 55w both need to be H7 fitment (55w of course more power, and I would go for them). And go for the slimline ballasts so you can mount them easier.

If you want to add xenons to your fog lights, to match the same colour as your low beams, only go with 35w H11 fitment, otherwise the heat caused by them may be too much for the housing.

Or if your not looking for ultimate light output, you can get some H11 LEDs. This is what I run, and they are colour matched to my 6000k lows. They again cause a bulb out warning on the DIS, but can be cured with some 100ohm resistors plugged into the harness (get from eBay).

Or you can get some OEM S6 LEDs. This is, in my opinion, the only LEDs that look good, and suit our cars. I was in the process of adding them to my B6, replacing the fog lights (very easy wiring), but decided to sell the car before it was finished. If you want them, I do have them for sale. PM me if interested.

Side lights, you want some LEDs. PIAA make some 6000k rated LEDs, but are very pricey (from what I remember they are about 70 quid for the pair). The only problem you get with all LEDs is they blink and sometimes cause a bulb out warning. Don't be fooled by the ones on eBay that have a resistor built it. They don't work for our cars. You need some 50-100ohm resistors for each side light.

For number plate lights, I've had no problems with using just LED festoon bulbs in mine, don't cause me bulb out warnings and don't flicker. Check Alltronix on eBay, thats where I've gotten all of my lights from.

Boya!!! the colour is ford polaris grey mate,, my mate did em for me,, he's also just filled and reprayed a huge hole in the rear bumper and repainted the front one to get rid of all the paint chips,, he's saved me a small fortune!!!
the good news about the paint colour ive chosen is that there is a touch up pen set inc primer, colour and laquer from halfords,, just incase the missus goes scatty in it!!!

Those sidelights I linked you to earlier shouldn't give any error codes.
 
you are aware the W has nothing to do with the temperature?

think im just trying to get a general idea of what people are using and then just go with the flow,, dont want to **** it up,, im thinking of 5000's myself though at the moment!!!!
dont want it to look too blue,, but then again i dont want them to look too white either!!!
 
5000K is a nice colour, its what I would go for now if I was doing it all over again.

And all the W means is how powerful they are. It doesn't change the colour, just how much light they output. You want 55 for lows, and 35 for fogs.
 
what is the symbol for bulb out reason i ask is i have the heater plug light flashing on the display,had it on vagcom and only fault is needle lift sensor would this come on for bulb out aswell
 
I used to have 6000k in my Mk4 golf with projector style lights and although they looked good the light output that actually hit the road wasnt that great, a whiter light lights the road surface up a lot better. I have now changed to 4300k and the difference is well worth it. They still have that blue twinkle to them as the light is still getting refracted through the projector light lens but they are a nice crisp white light on the road.

They were great! Im going to do it very soon with the a4, with the civic i needed to buy the bulb holders too.. i assume i would with the a4? These ones? http://www.sinax.co.uk/hids4us/index.php?route=product/product&path=39&product_id=74

Also anyone got pics of installation? Was tricky on the civic but not needing to remove the headlights meant fitting the ballasts someplace was straight forwards.. where have you guys managed to mount them in the a4??

You won't need bulb holders. H7 HID's will fit straight in. Make sure you get slimline ballasts and they can be hidden in the OEM holder under the light unit. Search for (I think) Woorlords thread on this.

Number Plate LED's:
I have recently purchased some number plate LED lights which do not give any DIS errors >>Linked Here<<
(Ebay seller: F1Autoparts / Item ID: "Audi White LED Intera Festoon light no canbus errors")
However, these are not too my liking as they are too bright and do not match the reverse camera LED I am in the process of fitting.
They are so bright that on testing on my bench had a white blind spot in my eyes for about 10 minutes!!
Tip: Wear eye protection...... :cool:

I'm not quite sure what you're asking.....

The bulb out warning is hard to describe, but kind of like a bulb shape with an X through it. The glowplug light maybe on because of the needle sensor fault, but I've never heard of that before, however it could well all be linked. The bulb out warning is in the centre DIS display, there is no warning in here for a needle sensor fault.
 
hi all just orderd some HIDs 6000k if im not happy with the 6000k can i just get new bulbs ie 4300k or do i need to change the hole lot.

Aftermarket HID bulbs are pretty standard fitment so easy enough to get different temp bulbs - readily available on fleabay.
 
thanks woorlord i got them with the door mirrors i got for my car the guy was selling both together so it was more of a bonus really but they are the 6000k and not sure if they are the ones that look blue ish or not as i see very mixed coments about them lol
 
4300K have the best range in terms of lighting up the road - which is what I want them for at night!
They are a slight improvement over the 6000K ones I originally bought with "big ballasts".
When I changed to "Slimline ballasts" I ordered 4300K.
 
cool so the 6000k will be ok for me then as i have the standerd audi lights right now and we all no how bad they are so as long as it improves
on that im good lol
 
im very happy with the nines in mine would the 25s just be too brite

I've had the 9's for well over two years and I've been very pleased with them, however looking at them last week I saw that 3 or 4 of the individual LED's in each bulb have burnt out, which is a bit disappointing. I'm just debating what to do, I might replace them with some bright ones for a DRL type principle.

Had to replace one of my "Nines" as started to gve a DIS error in the very cold - and started flashing.
So thought I would try the "fifteen" set, which as expected are slightly brighter.

Ooh interesting.. is this 100% the case for all H7 kits dude do you know? seems strange as the H1 kit on my old car would have been shocking without holders :p

Alsoo.. seeing as this threads on the topic of lights (tried searching but not found much) does anyone make aftermarket drl type lights for the B6? (apologies if its already a well covered topic)

As far as I know it would apply to all H7 units, I'm not familiar with the H1 shape, but you won't need a holder for the H7 base shape.

There are no purpose made DRL's for the B6, there's numerous options such as angeleye type headlights, LED strips, or most impressively these. The latter are the only one's I've ever seen fitted which I like personally, fittings a dedicated job though.

well thats not right lol just thinkinh when i fit my HIDs will i need to have my lights re angled i fund a way to put the smiles up for free :p
