This is just a taster as gotta get car packed for italy, but got it working today, will do better writeup later as gotta finish doing front sensors & maybe swap out a rear one, but it works, looks cool.

As I mentioned before..... OEM King!!! :applaus:

Thank god I don't have the RNSE or I'd want this too!!

I haven't been on the forum for weeks (months?) but seeing this post is like an oasis in the desert - this is the one and only true Mod I want to complete. Already have front\rear audible park assist but previous rumours have it that I need the 2010 rns-e. Hopefully NHN will prove me wrong.

Looking forward to the write up mate.

KKP

kkp0897 might be unlucky there as Nige has a 2010 RNSE.

You can see by the gloss black LCD rim that it's the new type.

There was a cheapish one completely new on ebay last week if you fancy the upgrade.

Nige just beat me to it.

Did it really take me 2 minutes to write 3 lines of text??? :uhm:

Will you be able to do this for just the rear sensors or is it a necessity to self install the front ones too? I wasn't really too bothered about specing the front ones, but would defo like this "BMW" type display! :)

7X2 is the order code on new cars & it shows in the order catalogue as front & rear so both is needed from my research.

Nige just a reminder about the email mate. Looks like very tidy mod mate

VW that's a great mod. Remember seeing that for the first time and was looking forward to someone from ASN conquering this. Keep us updated.

Yes but will that cam mod & this ops come up on screen at same time as the VW version does, now thats cool, do a google.

Yeah I did notice the glossy casing - i was hoping it was another one of Nigels' fancy mods on a non 2010 version !! ; )

I'm on the lookout for the new one then - do you still have the link, how can i expect to pay?

Cheers, KKP

No... I'm a frayed knot.

But as soon as i get this spare RNS-E shifted, I might start colecting the rear camera module etc, then I'm going to start programming away like a mad eejit!

Heheheh...

Safe trip to italy mate, -don't reverse over any parked Vespas, or anything!

Nice work Nige.

I've been into some research on both this and the reversing camera. Kufatec do a reverse camera kit but I'd prefer to go the OEM route.

When I ordered my car it wasn't clear (to me or the dealer) what the option included so I didn't take it, electing for rear only sensors but I'm hoping that there is a rear and optical/camera capable module available.

What part numbers have you used Nige?

So far I have identified these -

4L0 980 551 B Reversing Camera
4L0 980 553 Securing Arm, Reversing Camera
4L0 827 574 3FZ Grip Molding
N 909 159 01 Oval HEad Self Tapping Screw
3D0 971 830 F Bracket
1K0 937 545 M Bracket For Connector Housing

8P0 919 475 ? Control Unit for Parking Aid (Some people are using the R8 interface)

And I've listed some controllers, it's just a case of working out their functions -

Controller Detail

Part No SW: 8P0 919 475 D HW: 8P0 919 475 A
Component: PARKHILFE 8K H06 0102

Part No SW: 8P0 919 475 E HW: 8P0 919 475 B
Component: PARKHILFE PLA H07 0102

Part No SW: 8P0 919 475 F HW: 8P0 919 475
Component: PARKHILFE 4K H06 0102 Component: HELP PARK 4K H06 0102

Part No SW: 8P0 919 475 G HW: 8P0 919 475
Component: PARKHILFE 4K H06 0120

Part No SW: 8P0 919 475 H HW: 8P0 919 475 A
Component: PARKHILFE 8K H06 0120

Part No SW: 8P0 919 475 J HW: 8P0 919 475 B
Component: PARKHILFE PLA H07 0110

Part No SW: 8P0 919 475 K

I do know that 8K is an 8 sensor unit and likewise a 4K is a 4 sensor unit. I don't know what PLA is and I know that 8P0 919 475 F supports park assist.

Can you shed anymore light??

I have a quick question, I only have the rear parking sensors, can I buy the front parking sensors and connect it with the RNS-E so I can have an optical parking system?

In theory yes. You'd need the sensors, possibly a bumper or drill yours, the wiring and also a replacement parking controller. This is another part of the front sensor system which is an on/off switch in the car.

Guys I only just woke up from my slumber after a mamoth all in one drive, I'll have a looksy over questions & hopefully provide answers later, hope thats ok.

I just wanted to say thanks to JohnS3 for providing me with his new S3 vcds logs so I could work out the coding as VCDS hasnt caught upto this new feature yet, needed some comparisons with mine to work out what had changed.

On the MK2 RNS-E units I believe the option for OPS is xx2xxxx for module 37, of course this seems correct as it works but I dont know what other coding is available or changed.

I will however disable this & test again, I also have thoughts this cding position has other unknown options atm, maybe for reverse cam overlay as when it was also coded for 3 it worked aswell, so will have to research further as I could be talking ****** on this note.

Well I have further plans for the rns frame

Nige do you have a front & rear sensor setup or rear only? What parking controller do you have and what options does that have??

It's a pity that VCDS seems to be slipping behind a little at the moment with label files, I tried to code a Bluetooth interface the other day which wasn't supported. I have sent the details to Seb but as yet no reply.

No probs Nige, glad you got it sorted out.

Stu, which module was it? I've got a 8P0 862 335 S (coding 0011422) fitted in mine. Hope this helps.

Meant to ask Nigel, any chance of some video footage when you have time :)

Video of the fronts

You can also change the settings directly from the RNSe

John do you happen to know of a controller that will do only the rears but with Optical or Camera support?

The Bluetooth was the new 7P6 interface.

Erm, anything from an R8?

Got my hands on a 2010 rns-e and hopefully taking it to hazzydayz tomorrow to have vagcom'd.

I have slipped the unit in and there are a couple problems. OPS is not displayed and the audible alert is only emmiting a repeated high then low beep.

Hopefully will get this sorted tomorrow however Gareth at Hazzy's mentioned I might need to change a module - quoted at £150. I'm hoping not as my S3 has OEM Parking System Plus.

Any thoughts?

Cheers, KKP
