Seems a little excessive?!

Utter madness when law enforcers behavour look like thugs...

We don't know the full story, it does, however, mention he drove off earlier after being stopped.

I think they need to be reprimanded but he drove off earlier hitting an officer allegedly

I bet that copper didn't even check to see if the door was unlocked first.

And the copper who jumped on the bonnet... what a ****. The old guy had apparently already driven off once (the reason they were smacking the hell out of his windows), didn't it occur to him that the man might drive off again, with him on the bonnet?!

Fair point, it does not tell the full story. But surely unless he was waving a gun or weapon around a simple open of the door would have sufficed? Im all up for a bit of police rufty tufty when required, but this just seemed mental.

And why the hell does that second officer feel the need to jump on the bonnet like a monkey at a zoo?

Our replies are a little too similar...how disturbing.

top brains for the man on the bonnet - what would happen to him if he drove off??? Is that really necessary for a pensioner? He obviously didn't do what they asked him to do, so they got annoyed and decided to act like that - Pride comes before a fall comes to mind!!

100% agree mate, even if he did get smacked by the old dude i'm sure they over-reacted due to their own pride being dented. Shame on them there police folk. And days after the police pretended to misaim and hit a girl with a taser gun, haha. I am all about the police, but sometimes they don't help themselves.

Jumping on the bonnet is part of the shock distraction tactic, so is the yelling, its so the person in the car cannot think of any attack action only defence as so much is happening at the same time.

The yelling and smashing windows I can see, but the jumping on bonnets, just silly.

ahhh, i see! Well that makes a little more sense then. I thought he was just getting all excited with the situation.

That's quite interesting sidibear.... it certainly worked. Did you see how fragile the pensioner looked as he was dragged away from his car?

lol

Yeh apparently he drove off and then failed to stop. They used the stinger which brought the "chase" to an end and then as sidibear said used the shock tactics to subdue him. Not entirely sure it was necessary though.

He didn't look fragile, he looked like he was resisting. The shock tatic is a standard method, its design to disoreintate.
Did you also hear he needed his medication? Should he have been driving if he needs meds? Did he not notice the police car chasing after him, or the officer who used the stop spikes?

We don't know the full story.

Happened nearly a year ago according to video.

The baton welding maniac wearing the uniform of HM Police didnt even check the handle to see if it was open what a muppet but as others have mentioned, shouldnt really criticise or judge until all the facts come out...

Repeat offender by all accounts.....

I'm amazed by this! I saw the video the other day and apparently he'd been stopped for not wearing his seatbelt, thought the police had finished with him so drove off because he was in a hurry to get some pills for his heart condition. He though the police were following him as an escort (he kept within the speed limit for the entire "chase"). He only realised they were trying to stop him when he saw the stinger.

This new revelation makes me think he's not as innocent as the original story made out, BUT smashing his window and jumping on his bonnet was completely unnecessary.
