Broken :-(

Hey all i just baught a A3 56 plate from a dealer. I paid for a years warranty on it.

Im just wondering what is broken in my aircon is it a part or do i just need to refill the aircon

The Economy button light wont switch off even when i press the auto button i read the manual and it says that the econ light should go off if not contact your local garage. Is this a problem with a part then or do i just need to go get it re-filled or how ever aircon works

can someone fill me in please

Without plugging the car into a computer for the fault codes it's impossible to say.

Could be anthing from needing to be filled to compressor blown up. Have a look at kwik fit for the £40 refil and work or no charge deal they do. Basicly if after filling it doesnt work they won't charge you, then you know it's something more and time to find a specialist ( stay away from Audi as they do not tend to know a lot about the aircon side)

Taking it to Kwik Fit or something for a regas as suggesed would be a good idea.

two most common things would be either a regas or the HPS or LPS have worn out and the sensors are around 50 quid a piece and they wear out often!

Umm i have a years warranty im guessing that the Gas wouldnt be covered in the warranty.

Other than that i JUST baught the car so shouldnt the garage i just baught the car from pay for the aircon re-gassing as in the advert it said it had aircon but theoretically i dont have aircon lol

what u recon i do ring the garage?

The same happened when I bought my '07 S3. ECON light would not go out. As others recommend, I took it to Kwik Fit, who didn't charge as the aircon wouldn't work - they said it'd either be the compressor or the sensors. Mine turned out to be the compressor - a known A3 fault. Got that fixed under AUDI warranty. Then the sensors went, so they were replaced soon after.

You've got your warranty Dave - just check it covers aircon. Even if not, you can go and have a friendly but firm discussion with the garage who sold it to you knackered.
