Cheers fella!

They are sneaky too. It's not far from where I work and everytime I go back there they have put more signs up, I guess in an attempt to combat all the appeals they'll be receiving.

I've appealed, but not against being caught. I've appealed against the actual ticket/PCN, saying that it's not clear what it's about so impossible for me to defend myself and enter an appeal.

Long story but hopefully it'll work.

Good luck dude! The whole thing seems like a right fail on the part of the council there! Let us know how you get on.

Cheers man.

Haha, yeah had a look at that site too.

I used to drive past this camera most weekends. Always put a smile on my face. So simple but so effective!
They've turned it back the right way now though! :keule:

This Gatso on the A406 near Brent Cross has been turned round to face the bushes. Minimum damage but maximum loss of revenue.

iv always wanted to trash certain speed cameras but its only the taxpayer who has to pick up the bill :(

apparently filling them with expanding foam is quite effective

Hahaha i like those pics and that expanding foam sounds good, i might try that on the one round the corner from me hehehe. sorry to here about that Aythreee, when i was trucker driving around london every time i stoped i got a ticket. I stoped one time out side a theatre and there was a traffic warden walking over to me, now i wasnt in the way or bloking anything so i asked him if i could park here for 5 min to unload the programs, and he said yes but any thing longer and i will have to book you,, i said fair enough. so i got the first one out of 8 loads off, went in the building came out about 50 seconds later only to find there was another warden there putting a ticket on my truck, so i said to him that the other warden said i could stay here for 5 min to unload and he turned round and said tough you are not allowed to park here cant you read the sign, but when i looked there were no signs that i could see tidy, so go for it dude fight them all the way and good luck

I got let off!!! :rockwoot:

Received a letter yesterday spouting on about "there are signs and you shouldn't have driven down the road blah blah blah". Then they went on to say "as a goodwill gesture we will cancel the ticket, but understand that this is not acceptance of your appeal".

Whatever!!

Are you sure my wife didn't send you that reply? Sounds exactly like something she'd say

Guess the big letters on the road saying BUSES TAXIS didnt give it away & the road is coloured as per other roads solely for bus/taxi traffic & the vertical signs aswell that say buses/taxis only, plus there isnt exactly a shortage of street lights in London is there.

I cant see how you can possibly not accept it was your own fault, you cant drive the roads assuming nothing ever is gonna change in how they direct traffic, I drove london for many years & know it changes daily, you accept this & keep aware & as you work in town anyway I'd expect you to realise that aswell.

Although I will say the fine is way OTT for the offense as such, they should make it a fiver fine & donate this to charity instead of lining there pocket.

Also I dont support cameras either as they cause more accidents not less, so love that site, nice to see so many brought down.

I don't agree entirely with what NHN says above, but while reading the BBC article in the first link, I noted that the spokesperson from TfL said: "Transport for London would much prefer motorists to follow the diversion and as a last result is issuing Penalty Charge Notices" - I have to agree with what NHN says, in arguing that point. It's not really a last result(?/resort), is it? Surely if they want to be fair, the first letter would be advising you of your mistake, requesting a few quid to cover administration, the stamp, and a small donation to charty; and then your reg number goes on 'the list' - then, on subsequent offences, you're hit with a 'proper' fine.

Every man and his dog knows that cameras don't really contribute to anything, they simply serve to:

a) indulge their owners/operators narcissism
b) make money for either:
i) pure profit
ii) to proliferate and spread (arguably just for the sake of it)
iii) a mixture of both

It's almost as annoying as their ridiculous over-use that they still try to pass them off as anything but machines to acheive the things outlined above. I'm not expecting anyone official to come out and say "Yep, I just get a kick out of sitting in an office/van and ruining peoples' days raising easy money", but they should just shut the f**k up instead of spouting this last resort nonsense.

Again Rob I reiterate my comments on another thread, check your temperature :p

When I started this thread couldn't really be bothered to go into all the details about how I got caught on camera but I will now a bit..

Basically I approached the road closure from another direction, which doesn't pass the massive signs you mention. The only warning I got was a small "road closed ahead" sign leant up against a lamp post behind parked cars (noticed it when I walked down the road another day).
Also the road wasn't painted a different colour at the time either.

The area is/was blatantly set up in a way to generate money, which it has been, massively.

Obviously roads change, but give us some good signage and warnings from ALL access routes, not just one.

And that, my friend, is why I feel it's not my fault.
