Hi guys,

Getting all confused now with the wheel and alloy sizes.... which has caused me to delay my VMR order.
I have now heard that if i go for 225 tyres the speedo will be wrong... ho hum...

Can someone with 19" and the 225-35-19 wheels please post some pictures and perhaps explain what the heck is going on :)

thanks

Loads of people run 225's on 19's without issue. Dont worry about the speedo issue, the effect will be very minor

How minor are you talking about? I also am fearing the rubbing.... I'm not that young anymore :)

around 1-1.5%

They wont rub unless you go down far on coilovers and coilovers are for the young with healthy backs!

Yip I already have the coils... which were actually bought for the VMRs just wanted to know which size now 18 or 19... inches...

im lowered around 30-40mm on coilovers and its rubbing :( 225-35-19 rs4 wheels

unless your roads are atrocious, then I would go 19's. I run on Yokohama S-drives, H&R coilies with VA 2 spring and they rubbed intermittently for 200 miles and then nada. I prefer the 19's. ET 48 is about right. I would prefer ET 50 for this wheel but 48 is just fine. You can disassemble the centercap and paint the base your car color. The outer ring and the 4 rings are clip on. ECS tuning has colored bolt covers. If you prefer black then order the TTS centercaps at audi. Not to bust this thread but take a look at DPE MT 10 wheels. I'm kinda tired of the RS4 reps as they are pretty much played out.

Thanks mate... what us the tire size?
Have you got a close up of the wheels also?

That'll probably be as the feltlike inner arch liner has a nice groove in it where it is coming into contact withthe leading edge of the tyre :)

Paul how are you find your ride ?
I'm still worried about going 19"
With the limited replies kinda worried with this purchase...

Take some advice from nate. His car is pure sex and totally baller. Rubbing is nothing to worry about and the 19's are worth it. The tire rubs on felt anyways. Look at some posts where peeps run 20's. anyways 225/35/19

I find the ride ok.

Its more harsh, but you cant expect much else, I've lowered mine of H&R Springs and then put the 19"s on.

There is a notable difference in ride, but I like it, if I had the spare cash I'd probably go for coilovers, not as I want it any lower, but would prefer to know that the springs and dampers were matched, rather than be on OEM dampers and lowered springs.

Its not bad though.

Here's my S3 on 19's, ET44 and H&R springs. Because of the rim, I went with 215's to prevent rubbing at the rear as Matt Andrew had the same rim and 225 tyres and they rubbed, only slightly though. It settled and lowered more after this pic by the way.

I then removed the springs because they themselves were making a very strange clanking noise. At this point I went back to 225 tyres, to make the arch gap look better on stock springs. It's being lowered more on Eibach Pro's at the front only as the offset and rim size at the rear is just right for me. Here's how it sits right now, but before being lowered at the front.

If you've got coilovers, then you'll be able to set it up to look good and have no rubbing surely? If you're looking for a deal on tyres, check out my sig. I've 4 brand new, unused FK452's sitting in my garage doing nowt. I swapped them for the 215's. I've an exact same set on the S3 right now, 225's and they are top. Ican hoon it around if need be. I don't do track days, so no need for anything to help out there. Hope this helps. :icon_thumright:

I think if I ordered another s3 it would be same spec as yours Rico. It's special.

Aww shucks guys! Cheers for the comments. I'd love to make ed38, but for a number of reasons it'll not be possible. I've only started this "modding" recently, so don't think I've done enough to merit attending a show. I'm also a slack bandit and so the car is generally filthy, so because of a mixture of naivety and generally laziness, I'm not making any plans. Plus, with a 5 week old, a wife that isn't medically fit to drive right now and the fact that I'm in the far North of Scotland, it'll take a bit of planning, lol, but it's not really possible for me to get away for a wee jolly right now! Maybe next year guys. I have some serious plans for a new car and mods, so next year will be interesting. :ninja:

I'll be watching with great interest though, so I expect to see some tidy pics.

drnutta - sorry for the thread hijack. 225's are the way forward for you and check out my sig man!!!!
