If anyone sees a 09 black S3 in the Midlands area with 2 'thugs' driving it, it's mine!
Stolen off my drive this morning at 4.30am, gutted to be honest.
I got the car new and at a good price (just over 10% off list) and i suppose i'll get some crappy offer from my insurance co. I do have GAP insurance thank god, i assume this will cover the difference from what i get and what i paid?
The price of new ones seems to have risen in the last year since i got mine so may have to go for a 6 month old one.
Anyone got any advice generally on what to do, where best to get a new/used car from, how much discount can you get etc etc??

fine cheers, bit shaken up. just annoyed really that my pride and joy has gone!

Ferris, so sorry to hear this mate. What happend? Yeah your Gap insurance will pay the difference, who you insured with? Main thing is you and your family are ok. Police been around or anything? I bet your gutted, but just think you will get another S3. Once again sorry to hear this.

Broke in through the back door, took the keys and drove it off the drive in under a minute! Police were good, there in less than 10 mins. GAP is with Surf & Protect, and is called Invoice GAP insurance Plus so need to look at that and make sure i'll get the difference between the insurance payout and what i paid for the car.

Damn!

Dude have you got any pictures of your S3?

I live in Birmingham, and there are potentially a lot of thugs within reasonable driving distance. What was your number plate?

Cheers

guted for you mate, really hope you get it all sorted the car will probably be in bits by now glad everyones alright

Quite a few possibilities tbh, my intuition leans towards that S3 being placed somewhere in the local area and left for a few days.

Hopefully they will (or will not?) find it, B'ham/Manc are very popular for R/S model thefts.

Can you post the registration number here, otherwise no one will know if that 09 black S3 in front of them is stolen not.

Sorry to hear about the car! Seems alot are being pinched now! Hope you get it all sorted soonish! Least you and your family are ok.

Ferris sorry to hear yet another car being stolen...

At least the family are fine and you have gap insurance as well. Good Luck.

What's with people stealing cars lately?? I'm kinda ****** off to those low-life scums who got nothing better to do. I don't know how to say, let alone feel your grief about losing the car. Really gutted to be honest.

At least you're ok though and that's what matters.

Sutton Coldfield. Apparently there have been a lot of driveway thefts recently in the area.
Don't want it back now anyway after some hooligan has had his grubby paws on it.
Oh well. Want a new one but that will prob get nicked too!
What's the world coming to when you can't have a nice car in fear of it being nicked.

absolute cnts!!! get a new one dont let them ruin your fun.. just get some added security... BIG dog? or CCTV or just :gun2:

Mate im only round the corner from you in water orton and iv had a tracker put on mine .
but if i got it back i wouldent want it back after it was stolen .
I had my wr1 stolen when i lived i castle bromwitch so i know how sick you must feel.

Dont mean to be negative in any way but a lot of stolen cars do get recovered and returned. Ive always wondered how long insurance companies wait before paying out and what happens if the car is found after

Gutted for you mate, I must admit this was one of the reasons I got rid of mine, it appears to be coming all to common this type of theft. I got stopped by the police a few months before I got rid, the bobby asked me if I had any probs with people trying to steal/hijack it, he said the S3 was the weapon of choice at the moment. I do sleep better now it's gone, but I do miss it.

You gonna buy another ???

Sorry to hear about the theft mate - hope you are fully compensated by your insurance policies.

It really is a sad state of affairs when people are having to get rid of their cars for fear of theft or have to think twice about a purchase because of these thieving f*ckers.

hmm... was just about to move to Sutton. might not now lol

sorry to hear about ur car mate this country really does suck doesnt it i used 2 have a old escort rs turbo show car and someone tryed 2 hijack it after that i wasnt really confortble driving it so sold it proto so can only imagine what u and ur family are going through mate i hope they get busted and get sent 2 prison for a very long time i hope it works out for u tho mate

try and think positive. you've got gap insurance so if you get a car of similar mileage and condition as your old one you'll have money left over for mods

Does anyone frequent other forums? Jap, BMW etc, and do you see similar STOLEN threads on there?

It is not that ALL desirable cars are victims of `millenium` theft, as its been dubbed, or are S3 really the car of choice for theives?

Hope everything work out ok for the OP, chin up.:o.k:

Cheers

Not seen any threads on the BMW sites of a similar nature, who would rob a 1 series though.LOL
Audi do seem to be the pic of these scumbags especially the S3 and also I am told the 3.0TDi models are a regular target.

i read on another "stolen" thread that the owner was told by police that 3dr A3s/S3s are stolen for parts, whereas 5drs and S4s are stolen for heists. i'm guessing there's a space reason as to why 1-Series aren't stolen., they barely pass for 2 seaters. (this is aside from the fact that they're uglier than sin, ofc.)

I've got feelings you know !!!

I do agree though, although it has grown on me. As for the space there is no less in the 1 series as there was in the S3, still get 2 mountain bikes in the back no problem.

This is getting out of control now! Mine a couple of weeks ago and now another!

Sorry to hear about this ferris, i can say i know exactly how you feel! Its horrible but my best advice is to try to not think about it. These people will get what they deserve sooner of later!

oops do you have one? Sorrrrryyyyy...

Seriously tho, I'm 6" 2 and I can just about fit behind myself in my 3dr A3. My mate's 5" 11 and his backrest touches the seat behind in his 3dr 1er... Space is definitely not it's strong suit lol

a month can't go by without another s3 raped. IMO it's all for parts and ebay is one of the reasons. Some ECU flashes allow for disabling the ECU when leaving the car. I then heard of a couple who had the keys stolen by break in and then the thieves came back in the house at gunpoint and pulled the chap out of the house and had him unlock the ECU. BTW, someone on Fourtitude just bought an S3 DSG shifter with boot and e-brake in silver stitching for 130 USD. Yeah, that must have been legitimate and the seller is philanthropic and wants to share his love of audi with everyone :-(

gutted for you man (and others who've had them nicked) - never had a car stolen myself, but had plenty of break ins so i know that empty/violated feeling all too well... (on a rather obvious side note, the break-ins stopped once i installed a decent alarm lol)

just out of interest, where do the people that have these stolen keep their car keys? mine stay fairly well hidden in my bedroom so like to think i'd wake if someone came in! although if someone comes in with a gun i guess you're gunna hand the keys over anyway! :(

Thats a pretty high risk strategy you adopt there, i'd rather not be facing the end of a sawn off shotgun at 4am in exchange for my car keys!

My keys were on the hall table. I used to hide them away but the thought of a couple of blokes coming up the stairs (when my wife and 2 young children are in the house) to get my keys off me made me start leaving them downstairs. Don't know if it's a good thing or not really!
I'm not going to get another one straight away, will get a run around for a few months. I got mine brand new 13 months ago and got about 3k off the list price. prices seem to have gone up a bit so i doubt i'd even be able to buy a year old equivalent for the same price. And it won't feel the same, as it won't have been mine from new.
Might shop around a few dealers and see what deals are available. £700 theft excess on the policy too which is a nightmare. Don't know if the gap insurance covers this, probably not.

i assume you leave your laptop, phone and jewelry with your car keys too then? most thieves are opportunistic rather than stealing to order, so if you make it hard for them they usually find an easier target.
if everyone leaves their car keys on display perhaps the teenage drivers aren't the only reason car insurance gets more expensive year on year...

Completely disagree...Most cars of this status are stolen to order. Theives go car shopping of a night looking for these sort of cars on driveways. They will hatch a small plan before entering the house and they will stop at nothing to get the keys. Hence leave the keys downstairs as they WILL use unreasonable force if you try to prevent them. Remember they will all be drugged up to high heaven!!

I also live in Sutton Coldfield and down my street are some very expensive cars. A lad owned a Megane R26 stupidly badged up as an R26.R! They broke in through the garage, cut the power to the house from the meter within the garage and found the keys and off it went never to be seen again. The house opposite has a CLK Cabrio and Discovery 3 on the drive...which one would you guys want for cash conversion against a Megane!? Also on the estate are a classic 90's Porsche 911 and an F430 Spider that are garaged...no word on break ins there probably as they don't know as they only shop at night. The majority of auto thieves these days know what they're after, especially in Sutton Coldfield with security systems plentiful. Rarely do I hear of burglary's just for a TV and computer!

Moral of the storey, Insure it the best you can. It can be easily replaced then! as if attempted it will be gone!
