After a lot of looking around, and a few dead ends,I finally decided on this...

http://www.volkswagenracing.co.uk/Tuning General Pages/Brake Kit Overview.html

JonnyC rated it very highly, and fitted it to his big turbo S3,and the specs seemed more than sufficient.

Anyway....I took myself off to Milton Keynes today and had it fitted.

It's only been on for about 60miles,but even now,it's way better than the standard kit....much more feel, and far better bite and grip.
Basically exactly what they said it would be,and comparing the OEM discs and calipers with it is like chalk and cheese....the OEM stuff weighs about 20kg per side, and these are 11kgs,and so much better made.

I now have a boot-full of pig iron, which I will need to empty when I feel up to it!

I tried VW Racing's 300bhp Golf with these fitted and fully bedded in,and it compares very well with the AP system I had on my Escort Cosworth a few yrs ago.

The fit and finish are excellent, and the service was outstanding( as is the coffee).

Highly recommended and very reasonably priced, and I want to offer a big thanks to Sam and everyone there.

I read jonnyc thread about these brakes on his S3 and he had nothing but good things to say. Looks like you saved abit of weight aswell and a good set up at that price. Never new the OEM set up weighed so much. Glad your happy with the brakes and had good service. If you dont mind me asking what you going to do with your old S3 brake kit? How did you find the golf

Hi...I knew the OEM stuff would be heavy but I honestly had no idea just how heavy it was,and I reckon there's easily 40kgs sliding around in the boot right now.
I will probably keep the old iron in case I sell the car,but the last time I did that I ended up with a garage cluttered with old Cosworth bits!

The Golf was interesting....Sam at VW Racing said it had a development map on it,as well as uprated engine mounts, their brake system, and Ohlins suspension.
Due to the mapping, the car feels initially very aggressive, but without the upper or midrange push of the S3,and of course it does have significant torque steer.

how are they is there any slight spongyness due to pressure?

None at all....unlike the OEM kit, which by comparison does feel squishy, and lacking feel or feedback.

it does come with a set of Goodridge hoses though, which will remove a lot of the squishy feeling from even stock brakes.

Yeah i thought they weigh more than aftermarket big brakes, but the difference is alot. Haha 40kg sliding around your boot. Well if you do decide to sell them drop me a PM. Bet garage looked like a car shop when you had all those bits around.

Sounds like a nice car, is that the new MK6 they have? No suprise that it never had sigificant torque steering. How are you finding the brakes so far today? When i get a new car i'll be looking to get the same brake set up. Bet the car feels lovely with the 365bhp plus the new brake set up.

£1500+vat on the link Nath, Nath if you dont mind me asking how much would your guy put something together for? im guessing he sorted Jords? they are wicked!

The weight difference is a real surprise, not so much for the fact that the OEMs are heavier, but by how much.

Brakes are obviously getting better as they get bedded in,and at least the car now stops as well as goes!

Not a horrific price considering the significant weight saving you get thrown in to the bargain!

Side on pic of your car would be good to see what they look like!

Will see what I can do when I get some time to clean the car up a bit.

Yeah David is a great bloke. I have bought some 996TT brakes to go on the front of my R32 from him.

I got my stuff from the TT shop

I got a right bargain tbh, as my brakes came off a new TTRS that had only done 1000miles, but they knocked a 3rd of the price of mine

This set up looks good too!
